Hello all..newbie here again. Got another question. So I have been seeing these El Capitan Marquees and I was wondering is there something that determines what they use for the design. I ask because I was wondering if they were going to consider a Chimpanzee one. I love all things monkeys and would love to see one of those. I didn't know if they do one of every movie that comes out or not. I can't spend lots on pins right now, but monkeys are one that I would buy for sure. I really hope they do a pin series of the Chimpanzee movie. So super excited for it!:anxious:

Hello Tinkersprouse! They released one on April 20th and it looks like this

pin89877
. Hope that helps!

The El Capitan has been very good about releasing a new pin for each "new" movie that they project. They have also produced new marquee pins when a classic movie, such as The Little Mermaid, Lion King, or Beauty & the Beast, or a DVD movie is projected there.

They already have a Cimpanzee Marquee. It is super lame. All black with white lettering "Chimpanzee." I posted in another thread they need to get back to the better (ie NOT LAZY) designs!! They release about one Marquee a month whenever they feature a new movie at DSF. If there is no new movie they may have a nice Marquee for an older movie. Like the Lady & The Tramp marquee a few months ago. They have a lot to go, I'd LOVE a Finding Nemo marquee. They've overdone Nightmare Before Christmas, they do one or two a year of those. I'd like to see more designs that feature the characters and not just the movie name in the movie poster font.

Thanks guys. That one is kinda blah. I really want a monkey pin. I seen the new Cheshire and was not impressed with that one. I am a monkey junkie and would love to see more pins like that. Guess I will have to go outside of Disney and see what I can find. Nemo would be fantastic too. I love that movie. So is there anyway you can get the marquees online? I'm in Missouri and can't get to the locations to get the cool pins.
Thanks for the link. I will have to check that out when I get back from the store. This is for sure my new addiction, and look every night for pins..hehehe:wiggle:

I'm not too positive (I've never done it myself) but I believe after a pin has been released at DSF after 2 weeks you are able to phone in an order. Hopefully someone who know's for sure or has done this can chime in here. Also you can possibly find a kind DPF member to pick them up and ship them to you. Are you aware of these pins that DSF also released recently that you might be interested in as well:

Pin 89878: DSF - Disney Monkeys - Abu

Pin 89879: DSF - Disney Monkeys - Rafiki

Pin 89880: DSF - Disney Monkeys - King Louie

I do like Abu, he was so cute in Alladin. Louie wasn't too bad of a character and Rifiki, I wasn't real fond of him. I think I will start a monkey collection though when I can start buying more. So guys get ready for that thread in the future  I will have to see what I can do when funds become a little more available and see what I can do about ordering some. It sucks being so far away from all the good stuff. I am hoping to move to Florida soon and it won't be a huge issue lol.

Mark thanks for the link. I finally got a chance to look at it and want at least half of them now. I wasn't sure I was going to like those pins, but love them now. LOL. I am going to have so many different characters to collect that my bank account will not like me. But this is so much fun!!!

The Soda Fountain only releases a marquee for movies that play at the theatre.

Normally now it comes out with the movie, They did play catch up there for a few months getting them out.

They still haven't made a Princess and the Frog one though!

I believe the reason they never did a Princess and the Frog marquee was because they didn't show it there. They only make Marquees for the movies that they show. At least, that's what I remember an employee telling someone.....

Your wish is to be granted. You'll see a Finding Nemo 3D marquee coming later this fall.

Wow, you must have some very inside knowledge! A pin-on-pin Nemo will be a hot ticket. Sounds great! I will have to take a pic of my Marquee collection and put it in the showcase forum. I'm sure it is not up to snuff with the veterans but it's not bad for a guy who started pin trading a year ago and DSF pin trading less than 7 months ago!

I would like to see your collection. I love seeing everyone's pins and how they display them or what they collect.

yes, LE 300 means 300 pins. Not including AP's and PP's. I was in there last week, they still had some of the kites from last year, a few beloved tales (nemo), and the Robin Hood ticket stub as well. That is just what I recall..... Call them and ask, then order what you want. :)

Just in case you weren't aware - DSF is next to the El Capitain Theatre in Hollywood CA - they don't have a Disney Soda Fountain & Studio Store in Florida.

Ok so let me ask this, LE300, typically makes 300 pins? Surely not? And when it's an LE300 do they typically last 2 weeks on the shelf??

Some Marquee's have lasted over 2 weeks. The Rocketeer and Real Steel over several months. I think with shipping prices you are almost better off just going through the BST ads here or eBay. You may pay a dollar or two more. If the Marquee sells out the first day or two, which I assume the Avengers one will, then you will likely have to pay the online going rate of $20+. The pin, with tax, and shipping from DSF is going to be around $20 anyways.

I've seen a few skeptical posts about the popularity if the Avengers pins but I think it is going to be a huge success for DSF. Too many people collect either Comic books, Pins, or both and these pins are similar to ever popular poster pins we see from time to time. The artwork may not be original, but as far as pins go, they are pretty dang cool in my book. I am going tomorrow to the perfume release, I'll be sure to take a few pics of the current pins on the racks, that way you folks out of state can see what is still for sale. If it is on the rack, you can order it pretty much.

As for Finding Nemo 3D -- the movie title, it's a matter of knowing it is coming out from the movie previews. And being confident that Disney will showcase one of Pixar's finest at their marquee theater.

Now guessing what the pin will look like.. that's a different topic.

I have noticed that the non-Disney/Pixar character movie marquee tend to be just the title in the appropriate font from the movie. So I have higher expectations for that one than movies such as Chimpanzee
