Elsa PTD
I love so much that no one gives a flying rats butt about the concept or the art that goes into the pin. Its all about how, why and when we get to have it.

They just put an order in for more PTD's a few weeks ago, probably in the neighborhood of 100 at a time. This Elsa won't be ordered until the next batch. So at the current pace of PTD sales that is at least 6-8 months out depending how many they currently have on hand and if in fact they do raise edition sizes in the near term.

Pins released at DSSH generally have a 3 month lead time from design to pin...

Exactly. However, once there is a pin, it can sit in the back for who knows how long. People are speculating that the Brave BT has been sitting in the back for 5 months now (since January), so it's very likely that we won't see Elsa for at least 4 months, but after the 4 month period, she can literally come out any day from then on till eternity.

The truth it, people only see 1 thing right now: $$$

On that note, I honestly think it's a perfect design IF it's 1/2 body, it looks like it might end up fully body and if so, it's gonna be ugly cause it'll be too small

Please let this be LE 5000.
I think LR or OE would be better ... .

Be afraid, be very afraid...
Don't you mean to say 'may the odds be ever in your favor!' because if Elsa, Anna, and Sven come out in the same cycle, the madness that will ensue will make that weekend of madness (with 6-7 flips) look like a regular Hunger Games PTD release compared to this Quarter Quell of a release. It certainly will make my phone's auto-correct of PTDs to PTSD accurate, in any case!

I just hope that when it comes out, it's as pretty as the drawing. I will never endeavour to own one though. With the PTD hype that goes on lately, I don't want to be within ten miles of DSSH when it comes out!

+1. Although I share Kupo's thoughts about it being small.

So are you guys kidding or serious about PTD's possibly coming to WDW?!?!

If it IS true I wonder how it would work. Would they release different pins on each coast or maybe increase the edition sizes and split the same pin between both coasts?

I have no idea. People are spreading the rumor about PTDs at WDW on the internet (facebook) and other pin sites. People have been saying that Ghirardelli is happy with the profits from ice cream sales at DSF (well, of course they would be, not everyone that gets the pin actually gets the ice cream.)

I've always wondered at the split for the pin vs. ice cream, but assuming that Ghirardelli gets $8.95-9.95 (of the $14.95 price) and DSS gets the rest, it's a hefty profit, especially since half the people don't get the ice cream (some will just get one scoop.) I'm pretty sure GSF made a lot on the DSSH princess pin release since everyone who bought the PTD with the pin release received a voucher for the ice cream to be redeemed after 3 p.m. that day (or anytime until June 30.) There's $8.95/9.95 right there (multiplied by at least 600 people) since most people that go back will actually buy another PTD and who can eat two sundaes?!

Anyhow, back to the original question, if PTDs seriously went to WDW, I would expect a different backstamp (all the backstamps here are either DSF old backstamps or DSSH), neither of which are at WDW. I can't imagine WDW opening up a Studio Store at DTD, especially when there's already the World of Disney and the Pin Trader's Store nearby. So, would Disney allow Ghirardelli to release a Disney pin under their logo/backstamp? Depends on licensing fees, etc.

I really hope if they are seriously considering adding PTD's to WDW that they evaluate the current location of the Ghiradelli's. I have hardly ever been to DTD in Orlando when it hasn't been a total cluster. I can't imagine adding hundreds of folks to that mob of people (and in that parking lot) for PTD's.

Also to clarify, DSSH employees do not design the pins. They tell the artists what they want and work with the designer to create the pins.

That makes sense actually, since I know Disney is very particular about who is allowed to even 'officially' draw a character. They have to be trained to get every aspect of the character exactly as they like it.

Yeah its one company that does the hard rock café pins, Disney and they also do private contracts

That might be the manufacturer, but the actual artwork and designs I would think would be done by actual employees of Disney. I could be wrong though, don't really know the entire process in detail... I just know how picky Disney can be when it comes to their character designs.

No I spoke with them. The artwork is done in house. I asked about this because I was asking about the Cintiq he was using. They have 14 cintiqs and around 30 artists who have to stay on model.

The Soda Fountain uses three different companies (PinUSA, PinCraft, and one in the North East). The pins are designed and manufactured by these companies. Concepts come from the Soda Fountain Disney employees responsible for the pin program (there are two of them). Disney gives final approval to each finished design before the pin is submitted for manufacturing (including any Artist Proof or Preproduction pins). Approval may include more than one division of Disney (example: Pixar, Marvel). I know PinUSA has 30+ in-house artists, many who used to work for Disney, DreamWorks, and Nickelodeon to name a few.

I have a picture of the artist and you can see some of the pins he designed. He signed my Brave BTD and I recall he did the Queen of Hearts PTD. he said he gets the artwork from Disney and uses that to design the pin. He had an Anna pin as well but I didn't get a picture of it, just the Elsa design. Let me check the help posts to see how I can put the photo in this message without a URL, I have the photo on my laptop here.

There are photos running around on Fb of the finished Elsa, Anna, and Sven PTDs in all their glory and they look nice. Now, given Disney has yet to approve them since they were just finished, they're all very nice but they all run the risk of turning out too small (in my opinion, even the Ariel we have is too small).
