Hello,

I am Andy from germany, my mother recently gave me a pin she inherited from my grandparents to find out more about it.
My grandparents got it most likely from a family friend who worked at a berlin universal cinema in the 1930s.

It seems to be in quite good condition and I'd like to know how much something like this is worth,
I havent found this exact pin in my internet searches, so I dont know.

Here are 2 pictures and a link to a video I made of it.

Hey Andy,

That is one sweet Oswald pin! I was just checking some of the posts on DPF and saw this one. If I find any information on this pin, I will let you know. If you are thinking of selling, let me know.

The pin that you have is the same style as the one pictured below.

The following is from:

First Disney Pin - Germany

German Film distributor Sudfilm gave away free Mickey Mouse pins in June 1930, at Disney cartoon premieres. There are German newspaper ads promoting the giveaways in June and December 1930. Sudfilm also printed a newspaper ad thanking jewelers that did not have Disney licenses for producing Mickey Mouse pins. The unlicensed jewelers made pins from June 1930 to March 1931. They were: Heinrich Timm in Berlin, Franz Richter in Zschopau, Hch. Hirshvogal in Frankfurt, Gustav Burmester in Hamburg, and Christian GrieBhammer, Altona. Gablonzer signed the first German jewelry license, in March 1931. The unlicensed pin producers and Disney / Gablonzer fought a 1931 court case over who had the right to manufacture German Mickey Mouse pins. Disney / Gablonzer won.

Could Oswald the Lucky Rabbit be the first official Disney pin? It's possible, Oswald pins from this era exist. The first Oswald cartoon was Created in early 1927. Oswald merchandise appears in August 1927. Disney Brothers studio looses control over Oswald in March 1928. Merchandise continued to be produced in this image, until Oswald's character design was changed by Walter Lantz 1935.
