I bought a pin lot in hopes to start trading more to get some more Mickey and Minnie pins, however I received mostly fakes and scrappers. It just really brought my whole day down and I'm actually pretty upset about it. I went through a handful of them and gave up, but I found these 3 which happen to be real (to my knowledge)

Usually when the pins come in little bags such as the ones in the picture, they're usually scrappers or found in scrapper lots on ebay. The only real pins I've seen that come in bags are PTDs from DSF.

Not sure how you are buying your pins. If you are buying pin lots on ebay you will get a lot of fakes. They are just now worth taking the chances on. Your best bet is to buy from somebody here. We are not perfect here, but the chances of getting fakes are a lot less then on the bay.

Also, sometimes when people trade or sell pins from mystery boxes/bags they will put them in the little plastic bags because they don't come on a card sometimes.

Those are cute pins you got! Hopefully you can get some good trades with them!

Many of the mystery boxes/bags pins have been scrapped. Also - in my experience - I haven't seen any traders/sellers use the little plastic bags (except for the PTDs from DSF; and I think TokyoSea pins are in little plastic bags - but different thickness/quality bags); I've seen them use bigger plastic bags or card sleeves or 2-card or 9-card sleeve protectors, and some will use the black bags that were in the mystery box or even cut the mystery box to use as cards (to prove they indeed came from the mystery box). I'm not saying there isn't anyone who uses them, but because the majority of scrappers have been spotted in those little bags, most people are wary or tend to stay away from those who pull out little plastic bags with pins to trade.

I wouldn't even know where they would buy those little plastic bags... does anyone here use little plastic bags and where do you buy them? Some place like Michael's or JoAnn's maybe?

The first two pins in your picture have scrapper warnings. I don't own those pins but maybe someone who does can take a picture so you'll have comparison and can figure out if yours are okay.

Uhm, I actually keep my pins in such little bags. I prefer to have them packed so they won't get damaged. :anxious:
haha, but my pins are real:wavey:

I'm sorry this happening to you ! When I started trading I did the same thing! You could contact the seller and tell them that they're fakes and you'd like a refund maybe?

Xxxxx

The bags that traders tend to keep theirs in are thicker quality than the ones that scrappers are put into. Usually the scrappers are in thin ziplock bags that have a red stripe on top

Sorry to hear about your misfortune! Don't let it get you too down however, I think a good majority of us have dealt with the same situation when we started as well! I know I had my one experience with a scrapper lot off ebay! :sigh: It is just a lesson learning experience, but what your feeling will go away soon enough and you be right back to having a pintastic time!!!

I sure did learn my lesson. I messaged the seller and he immediately began to tell me that I am misinformed and that I obviously don't know what I'm talking about... I just let it go. Anyways, I managed to talk with someone on here who actually has a use for fake pins so it worked out! Thank you all for the feedback and advice
