Omg, so I am at dtd. I went to the pin store as soon as it opened. Not only will they not count my daughter as a "person" but they won't let me look at the pins..."you get what we give you..." Are you freakin serious!!?? Waiting for a manager. This is absurd.
 
They do that at Epcot, too... they started doing that policy during the Steamboat Willie release, I think? It stinks but it does get through customers a lot faster...
 
They enforce the "little one age rule" at the FL D Street vinylmation releases as well. It must be new with the pins.
 
My son is 9 and they were telling me that he couldn't get them either. Whoa. Wait a minute...he is an ANNUAL PASS HOLDER. So, he's good enough to CHARGE but can't buy!? That is crap!

How odd and mean! Seriously a 9 yr old is not allowed to purchase pins ?? How magical !! And the parks are supposed to be for "kids of all ages". I can never figure out Disney's wisdom
 
I think 9 is totally acceptable to purchase pins! How sad. I'm sorry you had to go through that. What did the manager say?
 
Wow!!!!! Thank god thats not me down there with the same scenario. You would have call security to "try" and escort me out of the store if they did that me. I would raise some hell. To say children can't buy pins? Whats next?
 
I also agree that a 9 year old should be able to buy a pin...I don't see anything wrong with that at all.

And yes, ever since the Lion King PODM release, DTD has been keeping the pins behind the counter and only letting you choose from a very small selection...every time I have been they let me look at four, and then I can choose which two I would like to purchase from those four. Epcot also did this for the Steamboat Willie release, but not for the Mulan release. I am not sure about the Lonesome Ghost release as I did not participate in that one.
 
Wow, that's just sad Sorry that happened to you.

It's dumb how the CMs have the "kid's only" lanyards, but yet kids can't purchase pins from the store?! Makes no sense at all...
 
I've run into this problem when buying a dooney and Burke bag in world of Disney. They are all unique with different placement of characters, so some bags are better than others depending on what you like. Went in to world of Disney to buy this 300 something dollar bag and was told that I was not allowed to open them and see the patterns, you get what you get... Well that pissed me off, I'm spending 300 something on a bag and can't choose one I like!?!?!?!? Walked right out of there after telling the girl how obscured it was and went to vault 28 where they happily allowed me to choose my bag

on a side note when my sister was there yesterday at 1:30 to get the new podm from fly n buy, they gave her 6 to choose from, she chose two. Can't wait to see them in person! Now I need to come up with a good way to display it.
 
At Disneyland, I was given 6 to choose from, But what I didn't know was that if you didn't like what you were offered you can say nothanks and get back in line I had no idea, or I would have, I wanted a ghost bad, the girl I made friends with at the park was right next to me at another register she got all ghosts, lucky she traded me 1.

And if they would not allow my 5 year old to buy if I brought him I would have made a scene , he is a trader and collector too! if he goes with me he always gets 1 to trade or keep! if he's old enough to collect them and trade them then he's old enough to buy 1 and yes he's a passholder too! so denying him would have brewed a storm!
 
As far as I am concerned, if a ticket has to be paid for them to get in, then they have the right to purchase. It's a separate admission ticket so it is a separate purchase. As far as a parent helping pick out a scene, do they refuse to sell to couples that are looking at the scenes together and talking about them? Sorry, but when you try to be a hardliner over anyone trying to exploit the system you end up hurting true lovers of the hobby.

I showed up to DLR PIn traders yesterday at 10:30am and they tried to tell me that they were all out of wristbands and that I would have to wait til 1pm. I told them that there was no way that they could possibly be out of wristbands and that there must be some sort of mix-up or miscommunication. They insisted that all had been handed out and that they had already had sooo many people buy pins there. I asked to speak with a lead since - they still had plenty of pins of the shelf and NO ONE in line. They called and said someone will be right with u.

I waited like 10 minutes then MAGICALLY they said - oh Alan said he is coming with wristbands so I can show u some. So she puts down 5 almost identical scenes. I asked to see more and she says - No I can only show you 5 and you have a three minute time limit. I said - ok but also I can refuse these - get back in line and see 5 more. So I took three steps back and then three steps forward. Ok I'm back. Then she gave a big rude sigh - then said this is the last 5 I can show u. Luckly there were better options in the second bunch. But I just don't understand when there is NO ONE there - why I was given such a hard time.

Damn! You should definitely have reported them for sighing and not giving the constant Disney smile they're supposed to give. I believe they get written up for that? lol

But that's just unbelievable that they treat people like that -.- if everyone has to pay for admission every ticket holder, EVERY, including children, should be allowed to buy pins.

How bad does that look on Disney's part though seriously?
"Mommy I'm so excited to buy my first pin!" and then an employee comes up to them and says "No you can't buy one." and the kid breaks out in tears? I'd punch the employee in the face and then write corporate a really nasty letter.
 
once a child is 3 or older, CM's are supposed to count them for pins. a 3yr old counts. They let my daughter get wrist banded for the last 2 PODM releases and we tell them she isnt quite 3 yet!
 

Where as my expirience at Fly N buy was awesome. They put out 6 podm for me to see. I picked 2. but my wristbands (dsughter had one) ment I could pick 4. The lady smiled when I told her I didnt like the other frames, and told me that since I picked 2, she was allowed to put 2 new ones on the table for me. And then told me if I didnt like them, it was ok. she would just ring up those 2, i could hop in line again for my other wrist band. BUT, I loved the other 2 frames she put up. I atually got those 2 and only 1 of the originals I had picked.


I am telling you guys... Fly n Buy is like. the best place for PODM releases. Everyone goes to DTD or LGM

Og wait. I dont want you all showing up at MY pin store. Forget I said that. Really.... they are evil. I promise.
 
That's really uncalled for. These pins ruins lifes (I'm serious.)

I only go to these releases to grab breakfast and watch from the sidelines to see how people act at these releases. (It's really fun. Someone should join me next time.)

But there was this 40-somethin' year old guy who pushed a kid out the way. I was like, "Dude, theyre just pieces of metal. Calm down." And the mom threw a fit. And they favored the guy. I said, "Really? This is so dumb." The mom and her two kids were forced to leave and the "Low-Life" stayed where he was. Smurk and all. What a life that guys lives. I felt bad that he has nothing better to do (I should talk, I'm the one watching crazy people act crazy.)

But this takes the cake by far, in my opinion. He's not a weirdo, he's a kid. Let the kid buy the pin, geez Disney.
 
I didn't have time on Thursday - but trust me next time I go to DLR - City Hall will be my first stop . . . . I even texted their names to a friend of mine so I wont forget them . . . lol . . .
 
I know what you all mean. I've also had my share of grumpy CMs! Especially when you want to examine pins or other merchandise for defects and are given a sigh or something similar. I feel like, sorry but I'm spending my hard earned money on your products of which many are damaged or defective, and I"m examining them all until I get a good one whether you like it or not!
