GenEARation D and D23 help please!!

Hello all! I was wondering if someone could give me a rundown on these events? I have never been to a Disney pin trading event before as I am just starting to collect pins to trade with... But have decided to go to D23 and am thinking about going to GenEARation D, but don't know that I understand what the 2 day event is like?

I am guessing no speakers, etc as that is D23's thing? Are there pins to purchase at GenEARation D or only trading? Is it trading with Disney or other traders or both? Is it worth it to go to both events? Is G-D worth it if you have to fly in for the weekend?

And then with D23, I am wondering if there is pin trading at this event? Or speakers and shops only? Is it an official trading thing or more like trading with other people type thing... If that makes sense! Any tips (for either or event - bring water? Food? Get there early? Etc..)

Correct. Genearation D is JUST a pin trading event. There are pins to purchase at Geneartion D (in your RSP first and if there are any extras, sold at the event).

Trading is with Disney (via the boards) and with other guests. Worth depends on the person. There are a lot of pin traders from all over the world that travel to this event (from CA, Europe, etc.) Me, in CA, I wouldn't go just for the event, I'd go for the rest of WDW too.

Pin trading with guests/vendors in the vendor area. There are lots of speakers. You can't bring outside food in, but there is a food court right next to the Anaheim Convention Center and there probably will be food trucks as well. You can bring bottled water in, though.
