I have just heard a rumor that the registration day trading session on Thursday at Coronado Springs for the September WDW pin event is not happening this year. Has any had confirmation of this? I need to find out if this is for sure cancelled or just a rumor. Thanks!
 
I'm calling event services on Monday, I'll ask about it then. I'm counting on that day to trade, so hopefully not. I can't see why they would cancel it. The check-in is at Coronado, and there's a room next door... There's going to be people trading in line or in that room if they don't give us a room to trade in...
 
I doubt there is a "trading night" attached but if they got rid of the day trading there would be a backlash and peeps would just take over a lobby or whatnot... For a few years it was event guests from say 12-6 then a 'regular' trading night 6-9 but they stopped that last year?
 
That would be really weird, considering they're still having the pre-reg on Thursday. I mean, it doesn't really cost them anything to having the trading off to the side...? The space is already taken, and the employees are already there, on the other side. It's actually my best trading day (obviously, since everyone still has their pins to trade), so I really hope not.

I don't remember if we ended the night with an "open door" PTN or not last year- I remember we had pins (Stitch and Simba) and Vinyls released, but I don't know if they opened the doors to non-event folks or not. I doubt they'll have PTN pins for us this year, since we haven't had a series to draw from, so maybe the PTN is the part that's going away.
 

We got the option to add PTNs to our RSP last year so I doubt it. I heard the only reason why they gave us the ptn pins was because they didn't want to host any more after the elsa debacle and they already had the pins made. Jack only got released to cast members, so we're lucky we got some pins at all.
 
Pin Traders have such short memories LOL! We have not had a Disney Trading Night after Thursday Pre-Registration since 2012's Mickey's Circus.

I seriously doubt Event Services would not have the room set up for trading amongst Registered Guests since they have to pay for the room for the day.

WHERE do these "rumors" get started????

Well, it's more a matter that it's hard to notice such a small change...room's already full, we're trading...most of us don't even notice when the time gets away from us. We look up and it's 10 PM, and we were no where close to the doors when the new people are let in. And it's not like all PTNs have pins, anyway- so while they're usually a good indication that a PTN is going on, they're not always there (or, rarely, they're there even when a PTN is not, like last year).

So yeah- not bad memories, just no reason to notice the change in the room. It's a small part of the day with so much else going on...lol.
 
While there will be no pin trading in conjunction with preregistration and pin pick-up, one local group is hosting a trading on Thursday, Noon to 6PM. It is off-property but not hard to find. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll send the address -- or post it here.

Unfortunately i cannot go to the event but will be around for off site pin trading if i know where it is on thrusday thru Sunday.
 
I just called and they said there was no plans to get rid of the trading room as of right now. I don't know where the rumor came from, but that's from the horse's mouth.
 
Interesting!! I have not contacted Event Services about the trading room, but I saw posts on FB where others had and reportedly Disney was not going to have a trading room for us. It also was not mentioned in any of the notices for the event -- absolutely no mention of our being able to trade after getting our pins. That is why one of the local groups set up a trading; they also have one for Sunday, if any one is interested.

Chubs191, thanks for contacting Disney. It will be interesting to see if they mention trading in the email about picking up our pins.

I don't remember seeing anything about the trading room in last years information either. I just looked at my email from last year, and I didn't receive any official word on a specific trade day when I registered for Thursday check-in. I don't think they announced it, it's just there?
 

Yeah, you're right, it's not usually "posted"...they just have it. If that's why the rumor started up, then someone hasn't been to the event before and assumed an awful lot. Heh. And like Tigger Sue said, they haven't been having the "official" PTNs afterwards...that would be the part that they *would* announce. And since they haven't been happening...no need for a posting re: it.

There will be plenty of people trading after hours, anyway, as well as the ones not paying to attend the event, so I'm sure both events will be busy...
 
The "announcement" for Thursday Trading at Pre-Registration is always listed on the Official Itinerary for the Event - which has not been sent out yet!! Be patient.

Seems we are all getting the "Event jitters" early. LOL
 
Villains-13 event was 2013, right? there were people trading near-by the registration and product pick up area, but probably not later than the last scheduled product pick up time. Is that what y'all remember from the Villains 13 event?

I'm so excited, I can hardly stand it! But it does concern me that the RSP results are going out more than a week later this year, when it was due 5 days later. And the payment is due a week after the RSP results. It just seems a little squished to me.
 
If I recall correctly you couldn't get into the Trading area on Registration day last year unless you were going to the Event and had the Lanyard, no walk-in's were allowed.

Okay, well, apparently, I don't know what the hell I'm talking about, so I'll just bow out of this conversation, before I say anything else that could be wrong. I don't think I even knew they gave out the itinerary early...I just remember seeing it on the back of our pass. I remember auction stuff going up early, but I guess that's as much as I paid attention.

All I care about is that Thursday trading is still on and the rumor was BS.
 
I won't be attending the event, but I'll be in Epcot,Friday the 11th. I'll be at the pin trading tables at the pin station. If you have any of my grails below, please come and take a look at my new and improved traders.
Glad it worked out for you all for pre registration day. That would have taken the fun out of it for those of you attending the event. Disney has taken enough away from you.
