Hey all,
I posted a while ago while moving and am just now settling in. I am the person with a large collection of disney stuff that was collected from 1997-2007. I am trying to get rid of it all but didnt know where to start. I remember a lot of you saying that I should list it here but that could be very time consuming as there are over 1000 pins alone. I was wondering if anyone on here is from long island and may be interested. I have done a some research and many pins are valuable but again, I dont have that much time free. I have totes full of souveniers, a box that says haunted mansion wall mirror, 2 boxes with nightmare sconces, lamps, bookends, and god knows what else.

Help me! lol

Kirk

There are a few people that buy collections that you can find on Facebook:
kiljoy667 (Kilian) <--he's the only one that's a member here.
Josh of MyD Pins
Margie Offerman
James Wright (peanut)

Of course, as they all buy to resell, you will probably get 33-50% of the value if you sold them separately. But, it's a way to get rid of all of them at once and be done with them.

Ultimately, it depends on what you want to do, sell piece by piece or just be done with them?

If you take pictures of all of your pins

I dont want a reseller buying them so thats out. Why should someone pay more if someone got them cheap?

I dont know, I'll list them locally and see what happens. Maybe I'll make a list and try selling little by little.

Thanks

kirk

I would love to see what the sconces and lamp look like. I'm in California so I can't make a trip out there but I'd pay to ship it if it's something I'm looking for and can afford your prices :)

Apparently, I didn't finish my train of thought before posting, LOL.

Take pictures of each of the pages of pins (I assume they are in pin bags of some sort) and then post them? Maybe we can give you general ideas of the values and maybe sell as pages?

They werent taken out of the boxes but the sconces are jack and sally heads with 2 serpent candle holders on each with a center mirror. The lamps are also jack and sally standing by a glass lamp shade shaped like a flower. I would not be able to ship though. plus the sconces are about 40lbs together.

I will try to take pictures of the pages when I re-locate the books. I know 75% of them are nightmare and haunted mansion though. There is also a book filled with pins called piece of history and ride signs.

thanks for the suggestions thus far. I will try to get moving on this after moving the couches and the last of the misc.

Awww shucks... I have those lamps and the arms on Jack broke, been looking for a replacement ever since... definitely intrigued by the Mansion pins though as it's one of my main collections :) can't wait to see them.

Aww, I'd take to Fed-Ex or UPS to wrap up well and ship ground with them. It will be pricey but it may be worth it :)

If you're not looking to sell it to a potential re-seller, or can't find many local places, then I would definitely just try to do it yourself bit by bit. You can always sell pins and items as lots, and not just individually. Even if you just start organizing things into lots, it might make things a lot simpler for you down the road. It seems like a daunting task, I'm sure, but if you take it bit by bit you can do it!

(Also, there are quite a few "piece of history" collectors. You might want to start there.)

I hope everything works out!

Pinpics..... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I think there is an account???

I know mine was Jack-DisneyRXR-Mansion-Guy
OOOOH, I found it! ppnhli was my partners account.
Many didnt make the list. especially the mansion pins from 2004-2007.

Collection and traders.

Thanks for the help and I will try to photograph today.

If you need help compiling a list I wouldn't mind doing a few pages for you once you have them photographed. I always find it fun searching for pins I've never seen before and what their history is.

The French, Always willing to help, lol. Eric was the same way, always searching for pins that people could not find and then complaining he could not find them, lol....

Thank you to all who have emailed me but I dont think I am going to sell the entire collection to one person. No one needs 1000+ pins or will keep all of them all in their collection.

If I were up there I'd help out some, but I'm down in Philly and don't have any trips to NYC coming up anytime soon (I think I'm there for one Saturday in June but will be in Brooklyn, and that's it at the moment).
Like a few others have suggested, there are people on here who will help you track things down from the photos alone.

If there's any Ursula let me know! I tend to know my stuff when it comes to her. :p

Ok, pictures done but how do I add them again? Can I do it from my phone? Do I have to have a picture website hosting them?

lots o questions lol

imgur.com is what I usually use for photos. If you go to that site on your phone and upload the photos (you can select more than one) it should let you upload them as an album and you could post the link here.

What I would do is take them with my phone then connect it to my computer and move them on to my hard drive. From there I'd just mass upload on a site like imgur.com or photobucket.com and then you could either have it be a private album and only invite people or give out a password to those you'd want to or leave it public.

If you can't connect your phone to your computer you could use an app like dropbox to do things like that but it can take a while going over wifi.

A picture website like Flickr or Photobucket is probably the easiest way, and then you just copy the url and you're able to put the photos into posts. There is a way to upload photos directly to your account, however you can only upload a small amount. I would definitely suggest using the hosting website. (Also, it's very easy to upload the photos directly from your phone to them.)

I'm also willing to help look up pins if you'd like assistance! As Rvaya said, it's fun searching for pins. :)

One thing that might be helpful before you do it though is to get a system to put them in so you can find them quickly once the pins have been identified! One great way to do this is to get some baseball card organizers (they're pretty cheap) and label each page/slot. That way once you list a pin, you can just list what it is and if someone is interested, you can easily find it!

Here are two members on the website who are selling pretty large collections. In the first link, you can see how she's organized things. The second just has pin pic numbers, but are also organized by category. You might want to PM one of them to see how they're managing to sell such large collections.

Ok I'm all set up! Here is the link to some of what I have. I don't really need to identify them since I am just going to get rid of them. Anyone interested would know what they are anyway... Right? Lol
