Going to sell all of my traders, but how?

Next week I will be listing all of my traders for sale here (not on ebay or Facebook - I'm not a seller there) because I need the money and none of the last few pins I'm seeking are being offered for active trade anyway. Ideally I'd love to sell them all in one big lot, but I'm not sure if there's any interest for a lot of 100+ pins (there are some major grails in there so it wouldn't be cheap - I've been holding onto these pins for a while - some for many many years).

And before anyone jumps in to suggest Killian, Josh or Diana - they're not buying right now, I checked. :)

So I'm leaning towards splitting the pins into two or three large groups and seeing what happens. I'd rather sell as a bunch and clean out my trade bag quickly than sell individually. But my question is, would anyone here be interested in large lots of pins (I'd include grails in each lot)? Or should I not even bother? What I don't want is to list them individually and sell like 10 good pins and have the other 100+ sit in a closet for eternity since I can't use them for trade.

My basic goals are:

1. raise some needed money to pay some bills
2. completely clean out my trade bag as quickly as possible

That's why I'd rather try for big group sales. Just wondering if there's any interest here if I did so? (You're welcome to look at my traders under Jabberwocky on PinPics - everything there would eventually be up for sale, but again, I'm not looking to sell just one or two pins at a time, sorry.)

But some of the big pins I have include:

pin40542
pin43998
pin97544
pin86000

and the Artist Proof of this LE50 pin:
pin94565
and the Artist Proofs of these WDI pins:
pin97325
pin97326

I also have these Tangled and Frozen pins (all on original card):
pin99537
pin99829
pin99845

pin101841
pin101839
pin101844
pin101845
pin101847

As well as these PTDs:
pin95543
pin101043
pin101330
pin101663
pin101899
(I have multiples of Tiana & Ellie)

and much more - those are just some of the big ones. :) But it's time for them to find their forever home I hope - if there's any interest in buying lots anymore?

Wishing you the best of luck! :x: You won't have a problem selling them I'm sure! :bigthumb: If I were in a place to do so, I would be after that Jessica!!!

Thanks. :) I think my concern right now is that nobody will be in that place to buy no matter how nice the pins are! :p

Judging by what I have seen of Darris trying to sell some Frozen and Rapunzel pins and not getting much luck, I am afraid it is bad timing. I think you might be better off trying to sell the better pins and then doing pin lots or grab bags for the others. I think most people are tapped out due to Christmas. Of course if you could hold on for a month or two you might have better luck because of tax refunds.

Good luck which ever way you go.

The old adage is that you can either have things done fast, cheap, or quality work...pick two. In pins, I think you can either sell fast, or get the price you want...not both.

Look at the market, do you think you are going to find people with deep enough pockets to afford large group lot prices? I don't think the money is there right now. Too many current collectors, are actually just flippers. So IMHO, your best bet, is sell what you can individually, maybe you can do a PTD lot and a Frozen lot. Then, I always liked the way Brea used to run her sales threads, with grouping everything into $5, $10 groups, and then drop the price until most sell, and then one final "Take all" price. I feel like if you group the lesser pins into a larger group, people are still going to value the group based on the one or two good pins, and you'd essentially be getting nothing for the lesser pins, so if you can get $5 for one, separately, you might as well.

There are actually a couple "lesser" pins on your list, I wish I could buy (like 61064). But my purchases have to be limited, because of the money I am funneling to Southwest Airlines because of my Mom, so I'm not sure if I could even buy at $5. It's just bad timing for me, right now, and I don't feel like I'm the only one. Which is making it a buyer's market. But if I were in a position to buy, I usually hate group lots, because I don't want to pay more for stuff I don't need/already have, just to get the one or two pins I want. So offering individually, I think, opens up the market to more buyers, as well.

Good advice from you both, thank you. This is why I wanted to open up a discussion - maybe I will rethink the large lots and look at the possibility of smaller ones. Probably still won't try individual sales at the moment though.

Not sure if I can wait to sell but it's a good point.

I think if you do pin lots, I bet people would probably try to get a co-op set up to buy the pin that they actually want so it may take a little longer than you may want.

Depending on your price for this:

I may be interested. But I agree with David and a few others. It's going to be difficult to sell mixed lots. I sold my PTDs as one lot (not the price listed, but slightly less). I knew I could sell about 10-15 for their going rates, but the others were just going to stay or go low. So, you have to think about whether you want money quickly or whether you want to get the most money for your pins.

Yeah, I think I need everyone to talk me into slowing down or doing smaller lots. But I still want to do lots as I don't think I can sell all or most of my pins otherwise and it's just silly for me to have over 100 pins for trade when I have less than 10 wants, none of which I can trade for! Maybe I'll look at smaller themed lots than I'd planned though.

In the meantime, here's a few pics of some of the pins that I will be looking to sell:

(Note: a few pins in the pic above have already been spoken for - but anything still on my trades list will go up for sale.)

Thanks everyone for the feedback - all thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

How much for the 5 Frozen pins?PM me if you want to sell them. I am also interested in The Little Mermaid pin(the Jumbo).

^ I will be posting pin lots/groups in the sales forum in the next day or two. I'm still putting everything together, but given everyone's advice, I will be selling in smaller lots (5-15 pins each) rather than big ones (50 or 60 each). :)

Okay, I think I've sorted everything into lots - now I'm going to take pics of the individual groups and if I can get that done quickly I should be able to post a sales thread later today. Thanks everyone for your input! :)
