I'm just wondering how you all decide what to buy as far as traders go. I know I want to build up a good trader collection, as I don't really have very many (especially LE traders) but how do you go about choosing what to buy? Do you go by something being popular, LE, high want/trade ratio etc? What is your purchase limit on traders?

Also any advice as to what's best to get for traders? Like should I look for more Stitch, Jessica Rabbit, princess etc?

This is a great question! I have been wondering the same thing as my trade book is also lacking :( I would love to hear people's opinions and advice on this please! :)

Well I know for me personally I try to pick up a couple of the new releases when I go to WDW (about once a month or so) but if I cannot make it to the parks I play the games here on the forum. Most of them have great pins (and great traders) as prizes and I have managed to get some really nice pins that way and trade them for pins on my wants. I know it's not the route that everyone will take but it has worked pretty well for me! :)

Its a hard question to answer, especially when you are not close to any of the parks or places that release the really sought after pins... This is my best advice on this. Once you get into it, you will probably end up with hundreds of pins. As time goes on, you may not find yourself attached to certain characters or themes like you once were, and then they go on your trades list so you can get your new grails. And that is where the fun in pin trading is, the turnover! That is what I think, at least.

To be honest, it's harder now that ds.com is all but gone (unless you live in the LA area). But there are still some things you can do...

1.) Keep your ear to the ground for new, hot releases and things people are excited about. Not all of them are hard to get or have to be fought for (mystery sets are popular right now).

2.) Popular characters! What you collect is not always your best trader. I collect Jess and Tink, but my best trader is Stitch. Popular pin themes tend to be Stitch, Jess, Tink, Tangled, UP, Princesses, Alice/Cheshire, sometimes Duffy and villains. That said, having a few of each theme is a good idea, although most of us avoid Fab 5.

3.) Ebay can help you with older LE 250/300 and even LE 100s for cheap. Not always, but sometimes you can find cheap lots (legit lots, not the mass scrapper ones). Just be patient and only snag the ones that are at cost or below.

4.) Just because something is LE 100/250/whatever doesn't automatically make it a good trader. Consider all aspects, like which characters and trade ratios.
