I like collecting Hong Kong and Japan pins Really excited about the Grand Opening of Shanghai Disney and
what pins they will have for their parks....

If anyone might be interested the Grand Opening celebration is suppose to be on next week too:

The "Grand Opening Celebration of Shanghai Disney Resort" telecast will air Thursday, June 16 at 8 p.m. EST | 7 p.m. CT simultaneously on Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney XD, and again on Friday, June 17 at 10:00 p.m. EST | 9:00 p.m. CT on Freeform.

I'm so excited too! Still very bummed that we weren't into pin trading yet when we visited the Tokyo Disney Sea park a few years ago, they have such lovely pins there.

Apparently trading via lanyards isn't done at TDR for cultural reasons (whatever that means) but they still sell pins , some really nice ones too
I have no idea what the situation is at Shanghai , I've seen images of CM's wearing pin lanyards but it's a bit early to tell .

I'll have to get my wife to tape it. I did have a friend go to opening day, to say the least jealous lol. I'm pretty sure CM pin trading is allowed there, one of my managers I had from wdw who is at SDL posted a pic of himself trading with two girls(and parents) dressed as princesses with their own lanyards...

I plan on watching it! I have to say, I'm REALLY interested in this park and it's opening! I hope to go there in the next few years....

From my single trip to Japan in the 1990s I remember that touching another person is considered rude. That may be why they don't trade via lanyards. Something about personal space in a country that has an enormous population and strong sense of public/private space.

That might have something to do with it, but I know pin trading got stomped down hard there because people were setting up blankets and trying to sell within the parks. They also had a couple of rough pin releases.

Which you would never guess, thinking about their culture of politeness, but after having been to a few doujinshi events, and in a few crowded anime stores, I can definitely state with certainty that fans are the same everywhere...I just got ran over at an event this February, in fact.

In the end, I think it was a bunch of factors, and OLC just decided it wasn't worth the hassle.
