Hello all!

Well, we are off to Alaska next week on our first Disney Cruise. If you have been on Disney Wonder, what is our best option for pins? Do you know of any special pins only available? Is there a list for said pins that we can look at?

Thanks for the answers!

I went to Alaska on the Wonder earlier this summer. Unfortunatly pin trading on the cruise is lacking. They do have a few general le cruise pins, and some le alaska pins with the year. However make sure you attend "pin trading with the officers'' on the last night of the cruise! Alaska is so beautiful, you will have so much fun! :)

I went on the Wonder back in 2007...It was a 4 night Bahama cruise though...not Alaska. There was a limited choice of pins. Alaska should have a few more options as it is a specialty cruise. As for trading...back then the shop staff, people handing out wipes and guest service CMs woe lanyards. There was also a pin board at guest services. Every night there is usually a pin Kiosk somewhere. Check your daily navigator. There was one night with a chance to trade with the Captain and officers...I got lucky with some great pins, but have heard it's iffy sometimes on pin selection. Castaway Cay will also have some pins, but not many and mostly Fab 5 stuff.
Have you joined your cruise group on disboards? Maybe there will be some fellow traders and you can meet up.
I love DCL and even though I have only been on one cruise I read TRs about trips just about everyday. I wrote one myself after my trip. I want to do an Alaska cruise, but my wife is a warm weather type of girl. We are going on the Disney DREAM for my 45th birthday and New Years Eve cuise in December.

Oh...look for the Captain's choice pins they are the best.

I have been to the alaska cruise. I have no words to describe how beautiful it is. You will have an amazing time. make sure you go hiking in the glacier if you can! as far as pin trading theres not much as far as trading. they do have le pins you can purchase. have a great time!

Hi, I have also been on the Alaska Disney Wonder Cruise in 2011. My advice for you would be to purchase your pins on the first day possible, the cruise ships only stock merchandise once for each cruise, so what ever is available the first day and you really want it (that includes any merchandise not only pins) purchase it, because if they run out that's it. By the time my cruise sailed they had already sold out of some LE Alaska pins. You can always return items if you change your mind before the cruise ends. I missed out on a couple of items I wished I bought right away. Also, ask a cast member for the LE pins if you don't see them on racks, sometimes they have special racks set up with only LE pins certain times of the day. You will Love this cruise, this is one trip I would love to do again. Bon Voyage!!

We are heading out in September for our first Disney cruise (or any cruise). I am looking forward to the pin trading onboard and appreciate all the advice! Let us know how it goes when you get back.

I just got off the wonder two weeks ago, it was awesome. Pin trading was pretty much for the kids though, I didn't see anyone trading LE/rare pins. There are books in both shops, and the main desk in the lobby. Bring a couple pins to each meal because the people at the door will have lanyards. The shop was packed with the pins specific to the cruise and alaska so I would be surprised if they ran out. The last night the officers do come out and bring special pins, they are mostly cruise/location pins from previous years.

If you don't know about the fish extenders you should read up on them, it was a fun experience. Lots of posts at disboards.com

Just wanted to say thanks for the information. The fish extender seemed worthless - nothing was in the bags on any of the nights. I saw about maybe 2% of the doors had them. Seems like the Wonder staff doesn't do anything with the fish extenders. Oh well, cest la vies!

The cruise was awesome! If you have a chance don't miss this!

We are going in 1yr!!!!! A month ago we did the Fantasy and WOW. We did the Wonder in 2006:)
As for pin trading this year:( Hit the trading books and CM lanyards first day first thing!!!! About 80% of the pins were real and by the 3rd day it went to 10%. Trading night night was a BUST
As for FE we had about 35 cabins in our group!!! It was fun but that's it!!!
I can't wait til we go to Alaska:)

The trading night was HUGE for us. Mostly, we got pins from last years Alaska/Panama and Med cruise. The officers come down to the guest services area and are given a lanyard by one of the gift shop attendants. Each lanyard held one or two of the 'LE' / Cruise pins. The rest of the pins were normal ones, some cast lanyard ones and a couple had some of the Planes release pins (from the gift pack found everywhere). The officers would exchange the lanyards every 5 - 10 minutes to get some fresh pins out there. In 30 minutes, we each got about 15 or so LE/cruise only pins. Not too shabby!

Have fun in Alaska!
