Hello. Pretty new pin collector here. I have a small collection and it grows slowly, but I love it! I'm most excited to share them with my kids; 2 girls, 1 and 3.
I'm a completionist collector usually, but there are so many pins and sets that I am overwhelmed! I don't even know where to begin!

Hi and Welcome! It's understandable that you're feeling overwhelmed; pin trading, like any habit ... er ... hobby, is its own community complete with its own vocabulary and etiquette. It's even more overwhelming when it seems like everyone else knows what they're doing while you're trying to figure things out as you wait for your invitation to the party.

IMO, the most important thing to remember is that even the most experienced pin trader was exactly where you were at one point, new, overwhelmed, without any idea how to start. I believe the best way to learn is by asking questions and I'm sure that our members will be more than happy to answer any you might have for you.

Just out of curiosity, do you have a favorite character or theme to collect?

Thanks for the encouragement! I went to Disney last month and got a cute, cartoonish Anna that my daughter LOVES! I would like to get more frozen characters for her. For myself, I like villains and Nightmare Before Christmas. I don't have any haunted mansion, but I'd be interested in pursuing that as well.

Welcome to Dpf ,I used to pin trade …but we can’t afford the parks anymore and we are on a very tight income …
But it is fun though ,I have over 15 bins of pins ,cast ,and so on …Judy

Welcome to the forum!
Your interests overlap with some of mine (NBC, Villains, attractions). Each of those has a LOT of pins out there so being completist in even one of them will be a very long project Gives you something to do! But there are also a lot of sub-sets within them that you can strive for as stepping stones. Have fun!

Welcome! I'm new also and I can tell you my experience with this forum thus far has been full of knowledge and kindness.
I've collected for a while but Pin & Pop got me introduced to trading and is how I found this group.
And I also have started this hobby with my daughter (6) and Firechief is right, it's both fun and frustrating!! Hahaha.
Enjoy!

Welcome! Some advice that I was given here early on that I found incredibly helpful was to set rules for what you are going to collect. It makes it easier to say, "Oh that pin is really cute, but I don't need it, because it doesn't fit any of my collection themes." Collections do grow and shift over time, though, and that's ok, too! I decided last year that I was not going to collect Loungefly or Boxlunch pins anymore, (which is hard because some of them are really cute!) but that decision gave me a bunch of traders to use!

I love my pin trading rules and totally agree with this! Excellent advice!
