Hello everyone,

I’m excited to join this community as I embark on a new and fascinating journey into the world of Disney pin trading—a realm I never knew existed until recently. This adventure began unexpectedly when I inherited a beloved relative’s collection after their sudden passing.

As I explore this vibrant hobby, I’m eager to connect with others who share the same enthusiasm for Disney pins, whether seasoned collectors or fellow newcomers. I’m looking forward to learning more about this unique pastime, discovering the stories behind different pins, and perhaps even contributing to the community as I curate and expand this special collection.

I’d love to hear any tips, insights, or favorite experiences from those who have been pin trading for a while. Thank you for welcoming me, and I can’t wait to connect with all of you!

Welcome to the forum and collecting! :lgm: Sorry to hear of your relative's passing. But I hope you find as much joy in collecting as I'm sure they did.

You will get tons of tips and insights here. One quick one to start with: Decide what you want to collect. There are a LOT of Disney pins out there and it can be overwhelming. So you might want to determine what you want your collection to focus on - particular movies or characters or themes (villains, attractions), etc. Or even where the pins originate, etc. For example I primarily collect Moana (movie, but mostly her), Alice in Wonderland (movie), Nightmare Before Christmas, Villains, and Attractions. And also Hidden Disney (but not Marvel or Star Wars). And a few specific series I like. Also only direct from Disney (no PALM, Acme, etc here) and only US based (no Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai pins) except for ones I picked up myself when visiting those parks. So you can see, it can really be kind of anything that works best for you. And it can/will change over time. But probably would be helpful to have a starting point.

And have fun!!

Welcome!! And sorry for your loss. Their memory will live on with all the fun experiences your pin trading will bring you.

My favorite thing has without a doubt been making friends on this forum. Everyone here is awesome.

Do you have an idea of what you'd like to focus on? Take it from someone who has ZERO focus... it's overwhelming!! One day I wanna grow up and be disciplined like @Ajk and a majority of the DPF.

Thank you so much for the advice. If I've learned anything it is the true vastness of the Disney Pins and the collection process itself. But I love that there is no right or wrong way and to do it and everyone I've come has taught me new things that i am very thankful for. So thank you for the advice and all the kind words! Happy Trading!

Hello, and welcome! I am very sorry for your loss. I hope getting their collection and adding to it will be a wonderful memory of them for you!

Welcome. Sorry for your loss. Agree getting into pin trading is a way to keep connecting.

Are you near Disney parks? Or far away? Pin trading in person if near the parks. Pin trading online if far away.

Hi and Welcome. I'm sorry to you and your family for your loss.

I agree with all of the advice given to you. I strongly suggest that you decide what you want to collect and just adhere to that. I made that mistake when I started collecting longer than I'd care to admit and *waves hand at pins in disgust* just don't do what I did. Decide which character(s) or theme(s) you want to collect and stick with that, keeping in mind that when it comes to your collection, you can:

-define it any way you want, meaning you can be a completist or only collect the ones you want
-you can focus on it, or another collection, whenever you want
-if you decide you no longer are interested in it, for any reason, you can put it aside and work on another one or even trade away those pins if you think you won't miss them

The most important thing to remember is that your collection has to make one person happy - and that's you. And don't forget to have fun. If you aren't having fun, why are you doing this?

If you have any questions about pins or pin trading, please don't hesitate to ask here. We're very happy you found us and we're looking forward to connecting with you, too.
