This is the pin, just won it on auction for a great price. It's one of my holiest grails and I've never heard of it being counterfeit or scrapped.... However, I like second opinions...

this is the pin

Pin 50379: DisneyShopping.com - Jessica Rabbit in Hollywood - Marilyn Monroe in The Seven Year Itch

Sad to say, a seller that is known to have questionable pins had one for sale this week. Merryweather and I were talking about it a couple days ago. I'll PM you the seller's name.

With that T/W ratio, I'm gonna take a wild guess that there is no way that pin has been scrappered unless it was just scrappered as of days ago. I've seen it in person too (medium size, real nice and thing which I like in pins IDK why, and looks great) and when I had a discussion about it, it was never mentioned that the pin could even possibly have a scrapper in circulation. All the Jessica pins that have scrappers in existence are known at this point so I think what you are getting is a prize to be had ;) CONGRATS!

As Hope said, that person is known to sell fakes. Last year she was selling other controversial Jessica pins discussed on this forum as well like Jessica as Alice and Jessica as Queen of Hearts. Having her feedback as private does not help either. Unfortunately, you can not see if she makes second chance offers (and it is her style because as a newb I bought from her).

There was one more seller about a year ago who sold quite a few of those in one year period - he must have sold at least 8 or so. Not impossible, but small probability. So, even if they are not mass produced, unauthorized versions, highly likely they are factory seconds.

I am sorry Andres, but if it is too good to be true, it usually is. If you know anyone who has the same pin, your best bet would be to compare them side by side.

Best of luck :)

This is a seller who normally gets their bad pins first, and then they start showing up from other sellers later. So it is possible that these are NEW counterfeits. Not scrap, but counterfeits, pins made long after the fact. They need to keep refreshing their supply as we catch on to the other ones. The good price, may have been possible because people are learning to stay away from this seller. Maybe it is good, but we need to be mindful of how many times this pin shows up in the next several months. There were also a couple of other interesting pins this seller was selling too.

This seller also lists all auctions as private, so you can't click on feedback and then see how many times a seller has sold a particular pin, once it's dropped off the 15 day lookback.

the seller had a collection of characters dressed as others for sale, they where disney auctions pins that I know haven't been scrapped, they where all on sale at the same time so i figured he bought the collection and sold it. However, I saw the rating they had and read about the scrapers they've sold before and the ones mentioned have had warnings on pinpics for a while and they are known to be scrapped. This pin however hasn't been on the site in years (except for one sold for $400). I been looking for it with no luck for two years so when I saw it, I took a chance. I guess we will find out if it is fake if a lot of them pop out, until then I won't leave feedback to the seller.

I saw this pin for sale, but because of the seller I didn't bid on it. This seller was the first one to have many "Jessica as" pins that were later found to be counterfeits, and she was the first (and for a long time the only) one selling the counterfeited "Stitch as Tron" pin.

That pin had a great price, but I just wasn't willing to bid because of the seller's dubious record with counterfeit pins. I hope that one is real for your sake, but based on their track record I kind of doubt that it is...

The seller has four negatives in the last year, beyond that I don't know. I'm also freaking out about the jessica as jasmin, and tinkerbell as belle pins. I want them, but the seller had them as well. Ahhhh!! I'm scared now!! Also, if anyone has the Original Marilyn pin it would be of great help so I can compare when I recieve the other...

I did notice that the Jessica as Ursula that this seller had for auction definitely showed the issue with her eye that is the hallmark of the counterfeit pin...

Yeah, I stay away from known scrapers/fakes... The halloween pins that where on sale though so far have no known counterfeit versions. I don't want to start a pin scare as not all their pins are fake, just because they have them on sale doesnt necesarilly mean they have been counterfeit. The trade/wants ratio on the pin as well as its rarity is what made me bid on it, however because of its rarity if others come out then yes I'd be scared!

If I can know the name of the eBay seller, I'd appreciate it. Combatdre, when you get your pin, post a picture of it. It will help others to identify if it is genuine or not.

Here are links to a former discussion. The same seller's pin were discussed

If memory serves me right, the same seller came on to DPF for a very brief time to defend herself and call people suspecting scrappers "paranoid" but her posts got deleted (I think) and she left after only making a few posts.

This person used to the sell on Amazon too and she is also known to make second and even third chance offers. Few years ago, three members got the same pin in a single auction from her. One was the actual winner, other 2 were both second chance offers. The pin in question broke my Sleeping Beauty loving heart:

Yeah, I was planning on bidding on this Marilyn pin myself but it's just too dicey and the pricing wasn't being consistent with past sales so that, along with feedback kinda scared me off. Fingers crossed for you. Hopefully you were able to snag one of the good ones

I used to have an authentic Jessica as Marilyn that I traded to Amanda (heyyouwannatrade) over a year ago. If her PinPics info is still correct she still has it in her collection. If you send her a message maybe she can help you compare. :)

When did you win the auction? I looked at the seller's completed auctions and couldn't find the Marilyn Jessica pin. I wanted to see what the pin in the auction looked like.

Just remembered that I had a picture of the pin I previously owned on my PhotoBucket...

What are the signs on that specific SB pin if it is a counterfeit? I am currently after that pin and I have held an authentic on in my hands (since it was bought directly from DS.com with the whole set) but I'm curious what the signs are if it isn't authentic. If you don't want to derail the thread, anyone with info please PM me ^_^
