Hi Everybody!

I just traded for this Sword in the Stone PODM. As you can see, the sword icon and the title has this "rusty" looking thing on it which I don't think is part of the pin. It's not too obvious (so not really rust looking) but it is easy to see. I tried water but it won't come off. Any help would be appreciated on how to return this pin to its normal shinyness!

Thanks so much!

Thanks I'll look into it!

Is it even rust though? It is not caked on or anything. Anyone else have this happen to their pin or PODM? How did this even happen? I traded for it at My D-Pins. Anyone else know of any other solutions (literally and the liquid kind haha)

Many thanks!

Coca Cola? I'm not sure if it'll work on tiny things like that, but for example, a rusty knife you can just put in a "bath of Coca Cola". Maybe rubbing a little bit over it with a cloth?

REALLY! Coca Cola the sweet sugary soda will work and deteriorate the pin? Hmm myabe I will try it, thanks for the suggestion.

Anybody else have suggestions? :D

Hehe, yes, it has some kind of acid in it, that removes rust, it's a sticky business though probably on something like that, so I'd look for something else first, haha, since you can really wash the pin of decently after you used Cola on it.

I've had really good results using OxyClean and adding a bit of water to get a pasty consistency, then using a Q-tip to carefully apply it to affected areas. I would be very careful not to let it get near the movie frame as it might fade out the ink. I've done this to 3 pins with dirty/rusted waffle patterns on the back and it worked like a charm.

Thanks for the tip Vex! So far I'ved tried GooGone, didn't own Oxiclean but found similar laundry stain removers and still there. I've even gone extreme and used a bleach pen haha. No luck. I think its faded a bit (hopefully these chemicals don't make it worse haha)

Maybe it's not rust? It does look stained though.

Next try is Coca Cola I guess... maybe..

Anybody else have this happen to their PODM pin before? I'm coming to accept it because Sword in the Stone is "old" and "rustic" film haha...

Are you sure it's not supposed to look like that? I just searched up some photos of other Sword in the Stone PODMs, and I swear it looks like there's a texture on the title and icon that is similar to yours. I don't own the pin myself, so I can't say from experience, only what I am seeing in other photos that are high def/close-ups.

I'm pretty sure the metal is supposed to be clean and shiny like all the other PODMS. Just checked e*b*a*y* with the zoom feature and it is also pretty shiny looking... I wonder what causes this damage on mine?

That is very strange. Maybe it's a common problem then. I don't know what to use on it either way. I'd be so afraid of ruining it with anything too harsh.
