So on the mail truck for delivery to my house is a Wet Paint pin! This is after obtaining the Silver Jail Scene a couple weeks ago, and the MSEP spinner pin this July. So it has me thinking, about what other old time grail pins, I should try to track down, now that these types of grails are all "tarnished and dingy" and aren't on people's radars anymore. So I started making a list of all the pins I could remember from the 2000-2003 era Grail Hunts, and then I was wondering what I was forgetting. So fellow pin trading Old Timers, what am I forgetting?

As a side note, I realized that there never was a pin group tracking all the WDW Mystery/Surprise pins. Dizpins has a page with the first group, but it's a little piece of Pin History that seems to have fallen by the wayside. Did anyone make a list?

The Old Time Grails

The Pin Trading Pins

The "Mystery" Pins

The Haunted Mansion Pins

The Pirates of the Caribbean Pins

Random Stuff

(any of the COM, really, but Tink was the one with the overnight campout)

Enter Disney Auctions

The One to Rule Them All

This isn't a "wanted" thread. This is a history thread, about what people considered grails back in the day.

There were bunches of Stitch grails, but I never really paid attention to the LE100s. Some of the non-LE100 Stitch grails used to be:

Pin 30592: Disney Auctions (P.I.N.S.) - Stitch in Raingear
Pin 30723: Disney Auctions (P.I.N.S.) - Stitch Morning Coffee

And these two Tinks were always top of folks' grail lists:

Pin 41799: Disney Auctions - Tinker Bell ( Teddy Bear )
Pin 43996: Disney Auctions - Tinker Bell Day of Beauty (Bubble Bath)

And for Alice, this always has been and continues to be the most coveted by numbers (though I never could figure out why LOL)

Pin 17180: Japan - Drink Me (Alice in the Bottle)

Of the handful of pins I'm still missing, the majority are from 2002-2006 - while none of them have more than 140 wanting and many have less than 50 wanting, they're still nowhere to be found. :(

I just traded for the Tinker Bell Paris PTN pin 37612 which made me pretty happy. I wish it were easier to get the older Auctions and Shopping pins but you rarely see the LE100's in person and they are very tough still to trade for online. I'm doing my best to go for older Tink's and Princesses but unfortunatley they are still pretty hard. Those ones above are kind of the oddball grails from yesteryear. But good for you if you found some hidden treasures!

Finally have knocked most of what's listed, if I collect it, off my want list. Just the one DL PTP, Mickey for President and Mali, are still on my want lists. I've done so well this past year in obtaining most of the above pins from collections I have purchased. Patience does pay off...

Here are a couple others, I'm not sure they are 'old' enough to participate in your grails, but I can remember everyone going bonkers for years for them...

Pin 25789: Disney Auctions (P.I.N.S.) - Stitch Mummy
Pin 28457: Disney Auctions (P.I.N.S.) - Stitch Square Face
Pin 27547: Disney Auctions (P.I.N.S.) - Stitch Angry

Just to name a few.

Even though it's LE 500, this one has always been a tough Stitch pin to trade for.

pin35069th72
Pin 35069: Disney Auctions (P.I.N.S.) - Stitch and Jiminy Cricket

OOO I second Gracey! That is probably my number one old time grail pin I would love to get my hands on. I have all but one of the Pirate pins listed (missing gold jail scene) but only 3 of the HM pins, I have the dangle, the cast member and the E ticket. I would love the mansion translucent! I know you said any COM but really not all of them were. The Maleficent one definitely should be listed though. I also would love the Maleficent from the event. Have not been able to get that one yet but we have only been collecting Maleficent for about a year or so now so I am OK with it. Someday, maybe! LOL

None LE pins I would list is Pooh for President and Minnie as Alice. I am sure there is more but I can not think of any more right now... LOL. My brain is too old!

You've listed my ultimate grail that took me over 10 years to finally get and that was Pin 3742: WDW - Inauguration 2001 (Seal of the President). Once I finally was able to get that one, it was such a sense of accomplishment that I waited patiently for that long to get it.

Yes....I am a old timer and I will have to say that I'm very proud of it....LOL. I have actually aquired alot of these pins this year. I picked up the Flubber mystery pin, Haunted mansion Dangle pin and the Maleficent boxed diva pin at the Dayton Disneyana show this year. I picked up the Donald Mystery pin, Mickey for Presedent pin, Inauguration 2001 pin, Wet Paint pin & both the gold and silver jail screnes off of Ebay this year. I also have the Pirate Dangle pin, Hitch hiking ghost cast pin, Hitch hiking ghost E-ticket pin and both the WDW and the Disneyland pin trading pins.
My search now is for the Scoop pin trading pin and the Mickey pin trading press pin. I saw the pin trading press pin on ebay lately by two seperate people and the one wanted $750 with a buy it now of $1000 and the other person had a buy it now for $1000. These people are out of thier minds!! This is a $100 pin at best in my opinion.

Acouple pins that I think your missing from your list are:

Pin 2883: Disneyland - Villain Event (Chernabog)
Pin 4153: DLR - Seven Dwarfs Mining Boxed Pin Set
Pin 9010: DS - The Walt Disney Studios - Halloween 2001 (Mickey Bat)
Pin 15342: 999 Happy Haunts Ball - Raven (3D)
Pin 30119: WDW - Disney Dragon #1 Surprise Release

(I have all of the above pins)

Pin 23695: Burbank Studios Cast Member - Pirates of the CalamigosOR][ Picnic 2003 (Mickey)
Pin 23711: Burbank Studios Cast Member - Pirates of the Caribbean Curse of the Black Pearl (Dangle)
Pin 30977: WDW - Tink's Summer Pin Quest - Traveling Tink - Tomorrowland (Stitch)

I'm in search of the above three also.

Opps....forgot about this one: Pin 4331: WDW - Born to Shop (Minnie)
She used to be a Grail for alot of people also at one point.

They my be old time grails .
But I got these grails in the mail today , sorry no pictures.
Pin # 2804---3830--38723--39724--39725--38726--38727--28728, No sleep tonight.

Yes, I forgot all about her..lol As I obtained mine the day she came out, so that was one of the few I never had to track down.

I forgot about this one as well...Pin 10090: WDW - Princess Ball Event - Tinker Bell Mystery Pin
The line for her was impossible. Not sure if she is the same status as the others tho....

Thanks everyone! I was, for the purpose of this post primarily sticking the very early years. The translucents went through 2004, but with it being a set, I didn't want to leave one out because it didn't fit my timeline. I did consider Born to Shop, but given it's current ratio, I wasn't sure if my mind was playing a trick on me. I did completely forget the Gracey pin.

But we can do the middle years too. So say 2004-2010. My brain is a lot more mush in this period. I got burned really bad on a 6-pin trade at the same time my husband got laid off, and we moved to Arizona, and my primary pin site (DIS Collector's Board) was dieing off as a popular place to be. So I stopped being a semi-active online participant, and really didn't follow the grails, because there was no way I was ever going to get them, so best not to think about them. So I'll have to rely on everyone's memories for that period. LE25 Figment framed set from the 2005 Pin Event, I remember. Mostly, because of the way everyone put the 2006 framed set on their RSP's and then everyone, including me, had to return it. We got 3 between my family, but we only needed two.

Another one I thought of from the oldies, but I didn't know if it was quite the same level, was the original DLRP Mystery/Surprise pin to kick of their pin trading.

I always liked that one because it was a holiday pin.

That's another great older grail pin. I know I still have it on my wants list. I still love the older hard to get "Grail" pins. I guess some of it is due to having them on my wants list for so long and now I'm finally starting to aquire some of them since they started coming down in price. I actually just bought both the Gold and silver jail scene pins in one auction for $125, that's $62.50 for each pin. These pins used to be $150 or more for each pin a couple of years ago.

Haha, thanks for bumping this back up, pretty cool pins in here. I like the pin trading board and the trash cans.

This one was tough for me to get my hands on..
