This might be old news but today my friend bought a lot on ebay :( (she knows nothing about pins and just wanted some for her kids to trade) and they contained scrappers of some newer hidden mickey sets. They were poor quality, paint marks, huge dips, just all around bad looking.

These were scrappers for sure:

That stinks! I'm sorry for your friend and what a bummer. Sadly, I just won't collect HMs anymore because of the high scrapper rate. Some were really cute but I just found way too many to be scrappers either through Ebay or on CM lanyards at Disneyland. I finally just kind of... threw in the towel on HMs. The only way I could seem to get 100% authentic HM pins was to buy them from a Disney retailer and as there are other pins I'd rather spend my money on...well...you get the picture :(
I wish everyone else collecting HMs the very best of luck!

That really sucks! If it was me, I would be sending them back and asking for a refund. That's why I'm so glad there's Pinpics. It has saved me a few times when I've traded pins from someone at our local flea market. I also say on person on Evilbay auctioning a ton of pins that are scrappers. Thank god I looked at Pinpics cause I was about to bid on it.

Scrapeprs are just awful! I haven't bought a pin on eBay for a very long time because I am so tired of getting scrappers. I also quit HM because of the ridiculous amount that have been scrappered.

ARGH for the construction fences! Only 8 more to go and I was done...but at least it's easier to tell the scrappers from the real ones? And I hope they don't do Alice just yet...

You can add a scrapper/fake alert to the PinPics listing. Doesn't mean it's going to stay. Some of the older HM and Cast Lanyards that I know for sure that have been faked, have had their warnings removed. Why? I don't know.

Not sure why people are so surprised the fakes got here so soon. They are made in China, these same factories produce the 'real' thing. Nothing is stopping them from making the fakes, right after the good ones. They have more than enough greedy, no morals, buyers here in the states to snap them up and cheat the system. Doesn't surprise me in the least. It does however make me mad to see them imported by said dead beats and cheats and then purchased by people, by the thousands, and then dumped at the parks. Grrrrrrrr
