My LE Ariel doll has a piece of her hair that is falling forward and over her face. It's been bothering me and I was wondering what would be the best way to fix it so it would stay back permanently? Also a couple of her scales are sticking up a bit causing the fabric underneath to be exposed. What would be the best way to fix that? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't have any experience in fixing doll issues which is why I thought it would be best to ask here.

(I'm not professional at this D: best to wait for an expert...but..)

You could try a small red/copper coloured hair pin to hold it back, or, 'sew' it back with red thread to another section of her hair.

I have my own personal solution to the problem (hehe, pun) I intend to do this myself as my Ariel has the hair on her left side in total dissary (MUCH worse than yours) and I want it to curl tightly like it should. Use mousse and a bit of water on the hair. Then press it against an appropriately shaped thing and held in place until it dries with elastic bands/hair clips till dry (AIR dry only, hairdryer may irreversibly damage/melt/frizz up plastic doll hair in seconds) That's what I intend to do with my ariel (I've said before elsewhere that I wont have her in my possession till december) Do not disturb untill 100% dry even though it may be tempting.
When it's dry, use a strong hairspray on it. Cover up the rest of the doll, especially her face, when using the hairspray. only let it touch the area you are working on.
As for the curling object...for small dolls I use straws or pens, but for ariel i was thinking of using small yoghurt pot because the curls are big

Personally I myself will use a very diluted glue solution. A small amount of waterbased pva glue/added to water applied to the hair (10% part glue 90% water) instead of mousse and hairspray but that's riskier.

I have done this to monster high dolls while trying to fix one section to match the rest of there hair with disrupting all of it. They have notoriously rock hard hair styles

This is to acheive that stiff gluey hardness to match the rest of her hair. With most any other doll I'd probably wash the glue out of the entire head, brush it, get it straight. Recurl without glue using a method of dipping in hot then cold water and acheive less stiff but softer curls (but that's not an option for LE Ariel though really, because that would be redoing the entirety of her hair)

In your case I'd probably do the red thread thing.

Ariel already has a little band of red thread around the hair that is over her right shoulder. You could get even thinner red thread than that, and tie the annoying bit of hair back to another bit of her hair. It should not be very noticible. If if bothers you, you could stick a pearl bead or something over the thread

I was considering the hair pin option, but I don't want it to be visible and I'm not sure I could put it in a position that would hold the hair back properly and not be noticeable. I may try the thread option. I'll just have to mull it over in my head a bit before I try anything. Thanks for your suggestions!

If anyone has any other ideas, I'd like to know. Thanks!

You might be able to adjust the starfish hair clip enough to hold back that section of the hair. I actually did that with my DFDC Rapunzel because the cut bang was really annoying me so I tucked it back. I would try that first and see if that works.

As for the scales....that might be harder because it looks like the underneath fabric is showing because of how the scales were sewn on. But you can try pulling the tail downwards and slightly to the side so it is not as noticeable.

Hope that helps ^^
