I've been adding new pins to PinPics tonight and discovered something terrible.

When I was in Disney Springs two weeks ago, I asked for the January Pixar Countdown pin of Finding Nemo. I was handed a pin in a bag; I paid, said thanks and left. That evening, I opened the bag and realized I'd been given the wrong pin. I checked the bill and sure enough the line item correctly showed the Finding Nemo countdown pin.

So a couple days later I took the pin back, told them it was the wrong pin and exchanged it for the Nemo pin. All was well! :bigthumb:

Tonight I've been making additions to PinPics, adding the new Pixar Countdown pin which is Syndrome from the Incredibles. I had a nagging suspicion and did a search for "Pixar Countdown" on PinPics. Hmm, that's interesting. Next I did a search on eBay. Nothing there either. Then I searched for a list of the currently released countdown pins.

1. Luxo
2. Little Green Men
3. Heimlich
4. Boo
5. Dory and Marlin
6. Syndrome

Guys... there is no other way to tell you this. But, as far as I know, the first pin I was handed at the pin trading station in Disney Springs was for an unreleased, and as yet unannounced pin in the countdown series. :anxious: It was for Cars and had Mater and Lightning McQueen inside it. I think the stained glass was a shade of blue (like the Finding Nemo pin) because it didn't strike me as odd when I saw the cast member pull it from the drawer.

Since I hadn't been keeping up on the countdown pins, I assumed it had already been released and thought nothing of exchanging it. I didn't take pictures or anything! Why didn't I do some research on it that night and keep it?!?!

Apart from that, I'm really wondering how this could have happened. Any ideas?

I used to work merch in disneyland and I can tell you that it happens all the time. Merch gets received and no one looks at the release date so it gets put behind the counter. The cast members behind the counter don't see a note not to sell it so they do.

That's understandable.

Yet, with Syndrome coming out in February, that means I got the Cars pin at least a whole month early. Maybe more. They have merch at the pin trading station that early already?

Too bad it wasn't the Inside Out pin so you could do snooping for me as to what character(s) are going to be in it. ;D

Well, pre-release aside, I would much prefer Finding Nemo over Cars regardless :P but that is a cool thing to have happen to you. If you had known before giving it back, what would you have done, would you have kept it or tried to sell it, etc?

Cars should be next - if they go in the order that was unveiled at the event. Although the glass was RED, but you never know!!

Mainly I would have wanted it so I could take pictures for PinPics. And it would have made a really good trader at least for a month or two. ;)

What that's a story! :D
