I have heard quite a bit of chatter lately regarding Soda Fountain and Studio Store pins being faked. Though I think the ones I have recently purchased are not among those mentioned in recent conversations, I am wondering how to tell if they are fakes. Are there tell tale signs they will all have? Can only a trained eye catch the fakes? or are there glaring issues as there are with HM's etc? buying these can be a fun, but nerve wracking and expensive venture. I would like to be a bit more knowledgeable so as to avoid too much wasted money ... Thanks for the help!

A lot of what I've seen on ebay look quite similar to the real pins so it's hard to tell these days. As far as I can see, there are no hard and fast rules about fakes any more.
Some pins do look quite different to the real ones, like the newest Frozen marquee - the fakes have a different coloured/textured background.
Sellers could also have a photo of a real pin but actually send you a fake.

Honestly, the best way is to look at the sold listings, if you see an LE 300 pin being sold multiple times for a low price then something's got to be up.

What if you are buying direct from an individual in Cali? They have great ebay ratings and the pins look good and are for a fair price but I did not buy them off ebay...

The best picture poster pins? There are no scrappers for those as far as I know. The main ones that have been faked from DSF are princess pins.
Theres a facebook group called "disneypinscammers" that keeps track of fakes and scrappers.
