I love getting new pins especially when I trade with CMs but being a EMT I am and being around sick patients I can't stand germs. So my question is do you guys clean your pins? I actually clean mine with Lysol wipes and I've noticed they look shinier and cleaner. There's nothing more annoying to me is seeing a dirty pin.

I always wash my traded pins in warm soapy water. I'm not really worried about germs, but I want clean, shiny pins to go into my pin bags.

When i get new pins i will clean them so they are shiny as just like all of you guys nothing worse than a dirty pin we all want our pins to be nice clean shiny and well presented so i see no problem with cleaning so are germ free i just dont want sticky fingers on mine

I don't clean pins, but sure do WASH hands well after handling them. PS, I'm a medical microbiologist

"I kinda lick the pins as soon as I trade for them. I especially love the older ones they have more flavor to them. In reality I don't care, just put them in my trade book or collection."

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Awesome!

I never even thought about cleaning my pins until now. LOL I guess I just don't care yet now I want to see if they get shinier. LOL

I do a spit wash. I spit on the pin once I get it, then wipe it with a dingy kitchen towel that has been used to clean dirty dishes.

Sometimes the smell can get to me, but I power through it.

Honestly though, I do like to wipe my newly acquired pins, especially if they have finger smudges on them.

I only think to clean them, if they visably have a dirty mark. I think more about avoiding pricking myself with the posts, and drawing blood .... and then catching something .... watched too many films!! hehe

Eh, I'm in the medical field, as is my hubby (also an EMT). We tend to go the other way with things. I just wash my hands frequently with soap and hot water, and I avoid putting my hands in my mouth. I have found that when people obsessively sanitize things all the time, they tend to be sick more often, because they have no chance to build immunity. In reality, any one of those parks is a giant cesspool of germs anyhow. Hand rails, turnstyles, EVERYTHING is covered in germs. I don't handle my pins all that much anyhow.
