Today it was brought to my attention that my pin I've been attempting to trade may be unauthentic. I need opinions on this. It's my Disney Shopping Jessica Rabbit Pave pin. The pin doesn't really have any tell tale signs of being a scrapper except for some gold metal edges. Otherwise it's heavy, the lettering on the back is all stamped correctly and nothing misspelt, no raised edges on it's back, no paint out of the lines, and it sounds like my other authentic pins when dropped or tapped. Nothing else is suspicious about it except for these gold metal edges. I also have been told that it's not common so much for pins with hinges or embedded objects to be scrapped. Point is, I don't want to be trading anything unathentic or scrapped even unknowingly. So any help on this would be so very appreciated (perhaps anyone else who has this pin?) Thank you so much in advance.

I have had some pins directly from Disney with edges like that. I've not heard of this pin being a scrapper, it's so hard to tell sometimes though.

Thank you, I know it's hard to confirm for certain... but I really appreciate the help. I'm going to attempt to trade it but be up front and honest about it. I showed one person and they are interested in possibly buying her. They seem to think it's an authentic pin but with minor flaws. They also said that it's not the typical pin to be scrapped due to the embedded gems. Still, if anyone comes across this thread who has this pin, feel free to sound off on it. I would be very, very grateful even for opinions.

A pin with those crystals is so unlikely to be scrapped, it just takes too much time to do that and the counterfeit pin makers really are looking for fast money. I've also never heard anything about this pin being scrapped. And it is true that Disney is not always great about quality control so it could just been a bad cut. Imagine when you're making cookies with a cookie cutter, sometimes the cut doesn't come out clean, well the same can be true withe metal. I would think it's just a pin that Disney probably shouldn't have sold but instead missed it or completely ignored that the pin has flaws. If you're interested I can give you some advice about how to clean up the extra metal.

Thanks for the opinion Ruby and I liked your analogy! It really helped give me some piece of mind. I'm also fairly certain she's authentic at this point too but as mentioned, I'll still be up front and honest before trading her away. I'd love the extra advice on cleaning up the edges! Then she'll look quite a bit better I imagine (Cause she's such a pretty pin except for those two edges)
