I routinely check things like eBay, Facebook groups, and Instagram for pins. Both ones in my collection and otherwise just to see what's going on in the current market.
I've gotten pretty good at scoring some awesome deals. I do not try to give people low-ball offers or cheat anyone. I just tend to luck out with small pin lots, auctions that are going generally unnoticed, or simply being in the right place at the right time.

Lately I've been seeing some pins that I've picked up for fairly decent prices full out skyrocketing.
Sure, there are a few sellers on eBay that I keep an eye on - ones that tend to post pins at extremely high prices compared to similar auctions.
But the price range in general can be pretty wide.

(To be clear - I do not buy my pins to resell them. I usually don't even look at the LE numbers or anything, I just get ones I like because I like them.)

Have you picked up anything for a decent price either on purpose or by accident then see later that it's being listed for some much higher price?

I've actually lucked out on ebay quite a few times. I've been able to buy pins at below what they cost when released, such as getting the Tiana Eau de Magique for $8.50 and Snow white for $13. I also was able to score two of my Cast Member Exclusive Stained glass pins this month for $7.50 each, when I'd only ever seen them on ebay for $39+ each before (and after). I love when you stumble upon a pin you really want at a great price. It feels like a miracle every time!!

I purchased Pin 29385: Disney Auctions - Mickey or Morty In Bed Reading ''Mickey's Bedtime Stories'' for a good price....we had a spot for it so I bought it on Ebay. I have watched the price fluctuate for the past year. It's a really cute pin, but I wouldn't pay $100 for it!!

A year or two ago, I picked up a completer pin on eBay for less than 25% of what other sellers were (and still are) asking for it. I was in the right place at the right time, and it helped that it was part of a larger order I made from the same seller.

In fact, most of the best deals I've gotten were the result of contacting sellers personally and working out deals for multiple pins. You never know what sellers haven't listed yet and might still be in their collections, until you ask!

My purchases have been limited lately due to funds being directed elsewhere, but sometimes I've found deals too good to pass up.

for $43 when it had been going for over $60+. Price has come down lately but even those are settling around $48, and I got to enjoy owning it for extra months.

And because I was so inspired by Brian's ability to put together his Figment collection so fast...

I got a group of 16 Figment pins for $61 including some that go for $30 individually. I needed, I think 8 out of the group

and then this is my favorite. Not really a comparison to other auctions, because Figment isn't hot anymore but, compared to original price:

For $34.25, shipped. Original retail was $125!

Oh, thanks! :)

That's great! I've done the same more than a few times, back when I still needed hundreds of pins. I wouldn't buy from anyone on eBay unless I could talk them into a bulk discount :D

These sets have been going for really great prices for a while. I remember I got mine for less than retail as well, but $34 is incredible! Wow! Congrats! :fig:

I've snagged a few pins off of Facebook for really great prices just by checking in at the exact right time. I was able to get Daisy 2 PTD a few months back and Olivia PTD a few weeks ago for $30 each, and the Sorcerer Hat Daisy (where she is wearing the hat, not the hat decorated like her) for $15.

I've had great deals but I never really bid or offer low prices. I'm one of those "say your price or I'm gone" people and from then on I say yes or no. Mostly because I don't have time for it. But I just roam Ebay, FB and IG and sometimes someone sells it for a lower price.

I did offer a lower price on a "or best offer" Ebay listing today and it was accepted. That's a first time I did that lol.

I have a few DLP Pin Trading Night pins I picked up for around the €20 mark each including Mulan & Tarzan both of which I've not seen since for less . I also picked up a few of the Stars & Cars DLP pins for under £10 each (basically at cost) which I thought was a really good deal .
My best purchase though has to be the Designer Fairytale Cinderella , and that was all thanks to DPF and the awesome Alyssadon for $70 . It's the most I've ever paid for a single pin but still massively less than it goes for on eBay .

I've done this a few times , I try to still offer a fair amount and I've only had one offer rejected . That actually worked out pretty well as the exact same pin showed up 2 days later for less than I'd offered so I snapped it up :)

Oh yeah - for my good deals...

I got the Little Mermaid marquee with Ursula along with 2 other DSF Ursula pins as a lot for around $60. For some reason everyone passed up on these pins as a lot, but bid on other single auctions. The marquee alone tends to go for over $150 from what I've seen lately.

I also managed to pick up the Ursula Villaintine "I'll leave you speechless" for a good price when I bought a few other pins from a member at the same time. That one is currently on ebay for... Ready for this? Like $245.
I know it's a hard one to come by, but geez. That's a lot.
