Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information
So for people who have experience, is it better to try and buy the 17" dolls in person? Or from the website? My biggest fear is I stay up late to the website and get a TERRIBLE doll and they can't replace it because they're sold out... OR, I wait to go in person and my store sells out before I can get my hands on one... What is the best way to go about this you think?

I have ordered lotsIf I lived near a Disney Store I would try whichever one happened first and plan to try the other method if the first didn't work. Getting Ursula and Eric is going to be tough online, but for me the stress level is much lower than potentially confronting people in the stores. The nice thing about the store is that you have the doll in hand right away. Disney can't take back your item if you've paid and physically have it in your possession. I have my China doll order cancelled and my designer pins cancelled. Hmmmm...

To be honest it really depends, a lot of people that generally have stores nearby will go and buy them in store but they usually wait it out in line for hours before opening. Then you have others who wait up till midnight and try their luck online then they will go and line up in store to try their luck again. Usually where they are able to buy the doll on both occasions they just cancel the online order. The reason they do this is to ensure that they do get a doll and that they get it on the release date rather than waiting for shipping. Plus it is also better to have one in hand rather than coming through the mail.

so ultimately it is better to buy it in store due to the fact that you can choose the doll and ensure that there are not defects but on the downside you have to wait outside the store in line pretty early to ensure you are one of the first in. If I had a choice I would rather wait it out in store rather than try my luck online mainly because you can tell depending on your position in line what your chances are in landing a doll. Unfortunately there are no Disney stores here in Aust so I am generally stuck to the online option.

By the way before you start lining up in front of stores make sure your store will have the doll before hand as it will not be released in all Disney stores.

Did they sell all of their Ariel Limited Dolls in the pre-sale or do they save some for October? If they save some how many do you guys think are left?

The only ariel dolls left would be the ones to sells in the Euro/Japan market so they would only be released on the disneystore.co.uk and the other euro subsidiaries and possibly also on the disneystore Japan website (not sure on that one though).

but yeah in terms of the US market, there will be no further releases of the Ariel doll online unless there are returns or a disneystore glitch that results in her appearing on sale online again only to have the orders cancelled.

oh I also forgot even in the physical Disney stores all dolls I believe we're preordered so unless you preordered her there is no chance to get her on release date in store or on the disneystore.com site.

Which sucks because not everyone was able to preorder her. I wish they would only put half for preorder so other people still have a chance. I really really wanted this doll, more than I wanted the Designer Ariel but I didn't think I could preorder her without having enough money in the bank and now I'll probably never own her because I won't pay the eBay prices for her.

At least I still have a chance to get Ursula.

The 17 inch dolls are shipped in their own box so nothing else in the box will damage the doll. Also, the box is pretty sturdy. It's really up to you, I usually try online and if I can't secure the doll then, I would go to the store. However, with the case of surprise releases like Ursula and Eric, it's better to go to the store because there's no waiting to receive your doll. I'm lucky that I have 2 DS, not too far from me. One is maybe 10minutes away.

I have terrible luck with the shipping. UPS is awful for me. My China girl's box looked as if it was smashed in and sure enough her feet were broken off. I was devastated.

Are they doing a raffle release for them like with the Designer dolls? It sure saves on waiting in line outside the mall ahead of time and people pushing and shoving to get to the store first when it opens.

I was told by some members on here it's first come first serve, but you can try asking your local Disney store. You may have to try your luck online and/or brave it in the stores.

No in the past LE dolls were just released like normal stock. So you will have to line up.

The raffles were done for the designers due to the popularity but to be honest disney store may need to implement the raffle system for the LE dolls soon as their popularity appears to be slowly growing and could potentially surpass the designer lines.

To be honest if this designer line is a bit of a fizzler then I don't see Disney continuing the line much longer but who knows we still have four dolls to go and the popular ones are yet to go up for sale. But like most have mentioned the price tag will probably reduce the likelihood of dollmageddon happening again.

Thanks, guess I might have to wake up early for Ursula and Eric...unless I am able to get them on the website at midnight the morning of.

Lol you could just try give it a shot online at midnight and then head straight to your store after that lol. I'm sure some people are doing that haha. Will just need a lot of coffee or sugar haha.

Hello all! :wiggle:

A friend (who wants to stay anon) sent me this picture, he got it from a friend.

What do you guys think? Is it real or not? I HOPE SO! :anxious: It would fit the LE Eric!

Don't ursula, Eric and Belle/Beast, all hit the store on the sane day? I need to mark my calendar for all these releases Although, I'm not trying for Eric or Ursula....but who knows, once I see them in person, (if I get the chance) that could change my mind. Although, and this is off subject, I totally want the Scuttle plush!!! He's so cute

My store does raffles for the LE 17" dolls as well. I like this system as it saves me from waking up super early and discourages scalpers.

Yes that is right if you are referring to in store releases. So if you are going to purchase the dolls on the day at an actual Disney store they should have, Belle and Beast set, Eric LE and Ursula LE available for sale on the same day so that should be interesting as one would think by having so many released at the same time it would increase the amount of people waiting outside for dolls.

But they have stagnated the release online for these dolls which I think is better because the website would not be able to handle to influx of people trying to access the site at the one time if they had 3 limited edition items released at the same time. I think this was bad timing by Disney, also it will be the first time that they release two LE dolls at the same time. Usually they only release one doll at a time, excluding the princesses who had preorders as technically their sales occured before the actual release date.

So Oct 1 and Oct 2 will have an influx of people accessing the site, the first for the LEs and the second for the BATB FTDC set.

to be honest though if they were to have multiple releases the one day, unless they have a different raffle for each doll I would prefer they do not do a raffle during a multiple release as it would mean that you would only have a chance at getting one of the items you wanted.

But if they were to do multiple raffles, so a separate raffle for BATB, Eric and Ursula then that would work too. But yeah from what I have heard most stores usually just do the raffles for the Designer dolls as that is what they were instructed to do by Disney. I am assuming that with the LE releases it is up to the store how they choose to sell them.

Hmm.. I dunno. I think she doesn't look very Disney-ish. I get more of a Bratz feel from her, but that could just be from the quality of the picture and not from being a further away shot. But who knows? Maybe! But then I'll starve because that means more money spent haha.

Well she does look like a paint-enhanced version of the smaller version, but Disney does use their small molds to make the bigger ones often - so she could be a close up of the fashion doll size customized or she could be a new 17in. I'd buy her in a heartbeat if she was real, but I don't think so. 4 LE dolls for one film? Its a lot.

It's going to be a separate raffle for each doll. My store CM.did warn me that it was going to be super hard to get belle/beast though because of how busy the store would be. Sucks, as she is my personal favourite and the one I really really want.

I don't like Eric's hair, but I'd like to see better photos before I decide on Eric and Ursula.
