I wasn't expecting it to go on sale because although it was slow to sell, they didn't have a huge amount of them with the small limited number.
Ahhh thank you. That is what I thought, but was a little nervous about it.I preordered Ariel too - the charge will go through when she ships on Oct 1st
You can not buy ariel in stores on October 1st in the u.s Only to pick up the previous pre-orders. You can only purchase online and in stores in Europe on the 1st.
So preorders for the doll haven't gone through yet in the UK or EU yet? Why is that...and they are coming out on Oct 1, right?
The Euro market does not do preorders.
Does anyone know how many usually get sent to the stores in the US and how many stay online? Also, if I order online and then go in person the next day and happen to get one that is perfect, will there be enough turn around time to cancel the online order, or am I stuck being charged for both?
Sorry about there only being three in store. Those are tough odds! I really wish that with LE Ursula they would have made her a higher edition number. I can understand them using a smaller number with Eric and "testing" out the male dolls, but Ursula has got to be one of the most popular villains so there should be more of her. I am trying to prepare myself for the possibility that I can't buy her fast enough online to get her.I just went to the Toronto Eaton Centre today for their grand opening of the Disney Store there and they had Ariel 17" up for pre-order. There was only one more of the doll pre-order slot available when I pre-ordered her. They also told me that there was going to be a raffle the day of for a chance to get either Ursula or Eric. The cast member did not know which they would get but there would only be 3 in the store.

I agree that smaller edition sizes are good for keeping the value of a doll up, but it just causes me a lot of anxiety. It may be for nothing. I easily purchased the Lady Tremaine doll that I wanted for retail. I have just never seen so much publicity for these limited dolls and it freaks me out a little that Ariel sold out so fast with her 6000 LE. It's one of those things where if you get the doll then you are happy that it is limited, but if you can't get one then you think there should be more. There's good old human nature for you. I also looked and you can get many of the 17" dolls for close to retail on Ebay now. I guess if I can't get her I'll just wait like a year or until the resellers flood Ebay and the price goes down. The Disney Store marketing team members are evil geniuses....if they wanted people waiting in anticipation and creating a buzz...they've got it.Ursula IS a bigger edition size- all villains ( except Queen of Hearts) have been 1500, so to have 2000 of Ursula is great, I believe. I'm only an online buyer too, so I understand the anxiety of not being able to get her- but I believe that online gets more dolls than stores, and I am happy with the edition sizes of the dolls. I dunno... people call for bigger edition sizes... but I personally don't agree, they're limited for a reason. I just hope that everyone here who wants one gets the chance to buy one.

Very true!! Mother Gothel has been selling for lower like $300 but that is still pretty high...not sure about Belle though. Blonde Rapunzel is about $200. I think it just depends...Ariel right is selling for quite a bit so that could be driving some of the other prices down. However I don't think Eric or Ursula will go down in price as quickly......
EEEEE so happy! Super relieved I didn't go for the Fairytale Designer Rapunzel set as that money just went to get my most coveted LE doll for less than $200 - 17" BLONDE Rapunzel! New in box and all she's missing is her COA, but I'm okay with that considering she was $177.50 with free shipping. Gah, can't wait till she gets here! <3
On a side note, I was surprised to see a used 17" Gothel end around $102 total with shipping and it only included her dress, earrings, and the doll herself. Would you all consider this a good deal for her or is that still pretty high for a used one? (Sadly didn't buy her; she went out of my price range.) I should probably mention the doll was numbered 005/1500, though she didn't have her COA.

I know, right! Crazzzy. I saw a LE Belle for $299....USED. She came with no shoes, no cert, no box, fluffy hair, no rose and a cyrstal of her dress missing. For $299?! Yes I'd like to debox mine and shove them in a glass case... but it looks like it was a child's play thing! Makes me so sad because I still need Belle...
BUT- congrats on your Rapunzel!!!!!!. I got my grails (Snow and Tiana) so I know how excited you are. I'm really pleased for you!
I never thought about that, waiting to after the holidays. Im sure prices will go down. I pretty much check/stalk ebay everyday so I can keep an eye out on deals.I sold a Belle a few months ago and she got up to about $250. Prices seem to be less inflated over all - BUT it isn't Christmas shopping season yet. As someone who frequently buys and sells on eBay I recommend that folks stop trying for older dolls once the season hits because you will pay more and will be competing with more people.
Once February hits, there will be less people online looking for dolls and you can snag deals from folks trying to get some post-holiday recuperation money (January people still have cash from Christmas so you will still see some pretty fierce competition for rare items).
That is how I got my Designer Ariel ($250) Designer Rapunzel ($125) and LE Rapunzel ($245) last year. Though they may be going for less this year, in 2012 those were pretty good deals!
