Which pin are more collectable or valued by everyone the limited edition or CastMember only pins. Is it 1000 pins to be considered limited?

I would say that value is in the eyes of the beholder. For me I know there are LE or Cast Exclusive pins that just don't interest me even if it's a low edition size or not. I have even had the opportunity to trade for Artist Proof and Pre-Production pins but didn't because the pin itself was not one I was fond of. And on the other hand there are the Mystery Box sets that I will buy 20 boxes of to try to get one each of the set and then others will not want to trade for the extras I will have of them. :)

I agree with PinFanatic. There are some OE pins I would die to get my hands on...and LE pins I have been offered that I just don't want at all. This is an entirely subjective hobby! Your grail might be someone else's idea of "no way"! All in all most of the pins are tiny works of art and if you like it, go for the trade/purchase.

Yup. And this is backed up by looking at eBay sales prices, to some extent. Not all cast-member pins go for all that much, even the old ones.

I've always just collected what I liked, and never worried about if it was limited edition or cast member. If it's a character or design I like then I'll get it, but I have also passed on many of both types of Pins.

Ultimately, it comes down to the theme of the pin. A CM pin with a popular character or theme will do better than a LE pin with a less popular character or vice versa. I would give an edge to regular LEs being more valuable just because many CM pins are also intended to "support the cast" and so may have details that make it unappealing to someone who doesn't work for Disney. CM pins tend to use the Fab 5, which aren't always that interesting to traders, or they may have a lot of dates and words which current traders tend to reject.
