I know that Disney doesn't let you change names on the RSP (allegedly, although last year for the Tiki Event, one of my friends who was coming with me got sick a few days before the event and was able to change the name on her reservation to another friend).

But, it seems that you can have someone else pay for the ticket/merchandise as long as the sponsor registers the sponsored person him or herself (this year, I've been sponsored for the NBC event and my sponsor did the registration, paid for the ticket, but listed me as the guest and had his credit card information for the biller/payor)

So, can this be done for the Imagination Gala as well? Or is Disneyland Events nicer than WDW Events and DLR Events will make exceptions whereas WDW Events will not?

EDITING POST NOW to say that I am LOOKING to sponsor someone for the Imagination Gala. I already asked for the time off to go myself and was DENIED :(

Gosh darn it, thanks!

just fly me out there in the law firms privet jet and I will go for you. I don't have work or anything else going on... j/k

Good luck Li. Im sure you will find someone. Have you checked with Laz?

My wife, Mom and I are already signed up... Can a one year old be sponsored? lol. If so, my son will be with us and you're welcome to sponsor him.

And I would have gladly sponsored you Amanda! :)

Question, you're asking to sponsor someone, but when I PM'd you, you said you just wanted to control my RSP with a credit card. Based on what others who have been sponsored have told us, I don't think that's what 'sponsoring' means, does it?

Are you looking to sponsor someone or be sponsored? I would like to sponsor someone for this event :D

I'm attending with my husband, so if you're interested, you could sponsor me (we can check with one of the pros (FuzzyBunny) re: sponsoring to see how it works). We'd even try & pick up some extra gifts off the boards. Just let me know.

Debbie

Goodluck finding someone.
I'd love to sponsor someone. I'm not sure how much that would cost though.
(I suppose I'll just try to get some pins fron the trade thread (or ebay))

There's two ways of doing the sponsoring.

One is that I send the money directly to the person being sponsored and the RSP is done.

The other way is that the sponsor directly controls the RSP. That's what my sponsor is doing for the NBC Event. He actually signed me up, I gave him my name (obviously) and he puts everything on the RSP with his credit card and is charged directly through Disney. That way, I don't have to collect the funds from the sponsor, he is charged directly through Disney and I just pick it up with the confirmation #. Since the sponsor is local, I can just meet him next time I'm in the park (he can't attend the event himself.) Otherwise, if the sponsor was not local and he wanted the items shipped directly by Disney, I could make arrangements at the event itself to have them shipped.

I've done it both ways for events that I've attended for others on the forum. The first way is a bit more troublesome because one has to contact the sponsor to get the funds for the items awarded on the RSP (I lost contact with my sponsor until about one week before the RSP was going to be charged and it was difficult trying to get in contact again). Funds aren't sent UNTIL the final RSP is done and you know what is awarded.

I'm not sure if starry_solo answered the question, but "sponsoring" means sending someone (the sponsoree) in place of the sponsor to get/buy the pins of the event. That is, the sponsoree enjoys the event (meeting people, trading with others, etc.) but the gifts and merchandise of the event go to the sponsor who paid for the event and merchandise.

Some sponsors let the sponsoree have the "freebies", such as the "early birds" pin and gifts given when you pick up your registration packet. Other sponsors would like those freebies mailed to them. It depends on the sponsors, but usually the sponsoree gets to keep (as a minimum) the pins they traded for on the boards.

The main reason people sponsor others is:
to get pins "at cost" plus registration fees plus shipping and tax
(because the sponsor themselves cannot attend the event)

The main reason people become sponsorees is:
they want to go to the event but do not want to pay the registration fees AND they do not want the merchandise

If the sponsoree wants to go to the event AND they want all the merchandise,
they don't need a "sponsor".

If the sponsoree wants to go to the event AND they only want half of the merchandise,
then the sponsor and sponsoree can divide the fees between the two of them (e.g. 50:50 or since it's 5 items, one pays 40% of the fees to get RSP for 2 items, the other pays 60% of the fees to get the RSP for 3 items).

Yup thats a good way to explain it too

I posted in another thread ... but here again .. my family and i are going and already registered for the pin event for all 4 of us .
I have 3 spots available .. looking for 100 USD per person, you will get all gifts, full RSP access and i will go to the event and get the 30 USD gift card, so you will only pay 100 USD and not the 140 USD full price. If anyone is interested please PM me ...

I was caught a little off guard when you said you wanted to control the RSP with your credit card, but nothing was mentioned about registration, etc. I thought you just wanted me to give you our RSP. Sorry, yesterday was a really bad day at work (that's been happening a lot lately). My apologies!

We've registered but would sell off one RSP for $75 which would include US priority shipping for all but frame sets and would sell gifts off for $40 :)

Hi! I have already registered. I can give someone full control of my RSP and include all Event Gifts for $90, plus shipping. Please pm me if intetested. TTFN, Sue
