I'm so SAAAAAD :'( I wanted to surprise my boyfriend with a ZAP! but because the Post Office made me mad I didn't pay for tracking and now his Jiminy Cricket LE 900 pin is lost and probably in the hands of someone that won't even appreciate it :"(
Has this ever happened to anyone?

::hugs:: I know losing something in the mail sucks so bad. Had it happen to me a couple of times. It's why I always do dc. Hope it shows up at some point. You never know. Just be positive! :)

Hi,
Don't give up hope too soon, because I have had pins turn up as long as a month after they were sent. The post office is like entering the Twilight Zone for me. My old mail carrier retired, and for the last 5 months, I have a new one, who leaves all my pin packages with different neighbors, even when they have DC. So the person who sends me the pin thinks I got the pin, when in reality, it was delivered to my neighbor. I have been very lucky in that my neighbors are honest and bring it over. By the way, the same thing happens in reverse, meaning I get their mail and have to take it to them. We have gone to the post office to complain at least 8 times and it keeps on happening.

The latest package was sent to me from Paris and it was sent registered mail, so I was supposed to sign for it. You would think that would be safe, right? Well, the infamous mail carrier delivered it to a lady that had not moved in yet, so it sat in her mail box for over a week. In the meantime, I see the package as being delivered, and wonder how this could be when I did not sign for it. Can you guess the outcome? My mail carrier delivered it to her, for another one of his mistakes is not paying attention to what kind of service they are supposed to be providing. He just stuck it in her mail box with no signature. Finally, this new neighbor brought it over, so I got my pin, and then explained it all to the person who sent it. We took the envelope to the post office, showed the supervisor, and he apologized once again, but our mail carrier continues do to as he pleases, simply because he is getting away with being sloppy.

In a case like mine DC would not have even helped, although I highly recommend it. I hope your envelope just got derailed and gets to your boyfriend soon though.

Thanks gals :)
I didn't do the dc because I had just sent out a package where the tracking said it was a few states away from its destination for a few days even though it had already been delivered. I figured, why pay if they're not actually going to track it ><
Now I totally regret it :'( Unfortunately my boyfriend's mailman isn't as great as mine so I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed. I hope it turns up :(
I was so happy too. He surprised me with a ZAP on Wednesday and the ZAP I wanted to surprise him with should have been delivered on Thursday. Funny how we thought alike :)
I'm going to keep hoping! :)

I feel like the mail is a lot at fault here. I've lost 3 pins already and when I go to the post office they never help me! I feel really bad because I feel like this takes out the fun from the trading. I'm really discouraged to continue trading by mail.

Its happened where I haven't gotten a pin or they haven't gotten a pin. And cases where I was suppose to get something but when I would track it witht the number it would just show up as it was accepted in the post office and I NEVER got it. Other times it has supposedly been delivered to me and I've never received anything. i'm not mad at this i'm more sad.

This is why I always include DC . I just sent a package to someone that lives the next state over and only 15 minutes away and still added DC . I truly hope it turns up . For an extra 80 cents, I'd rather be safe than sorry .

I do always send them with DC though :( and when I track it thats when it says that they have only been ACCEPTED at my post office but they can't find it anywhere. When I call my post office they are not help saying I just have to wait.

I sent a package to Florida from Anaheim after the Sci-Fi event at Disneyland in June. I purchased insurance but not tracking. We are still waiting for a package that will never be delivered.

I actually blame the carriers..sometimes they do not scan the DC # and it could go to another house!
I mean if its a sub-carrier...you will get it when the normal one returns..thats happened to me several times
Hopefully you will get your pin soon

I totally do not like the post office. Every one I go to, they all work like their paid per hour. SLOW!!!!

Argh! Half the mail would never be found if we didn't insure it.

I only recently had a problem with receiving a pin, but luckily I wasn't too worried due to having the DC#. I was awaiting a package from Illinois and tracked my package and noticed that it was at my local Post Office thinking "Okay. I will probably get it tomorrow." But then a day or two passed so I tracked my package again. My Post Office sent it to a city 30-45 mins. away! It had said that it was delivered and everything! I almost got worried that I was never going to see this pin I had traded for. xD Luckily though I checked again later and saw that they noticed their error and that they were correcting their mistake before I had to call. Although it took 2 weeks I did eventually receive this pin. I really think I was lucky everything worked out for me in the end though and glad I had a DC# to reference. The Post Office can be a real hit and miss sometimes. I used to have mail (even checks!) go to my neighbors and fortunately for me they have always been kind to return them. It's very unfortunate though to see that some Post Office's just don't care about your mail. :(

I completely agree with you. When I go ask for help, they tell me to wait for the pin. I know that I'm not going to get it EVER by now. They should at least help me do something about it. I guess they get lost packages all the time & so to them it's no big deal. I agree with Judy also about being the carriers fault because they should do their job properly. Thanks I also hope that my pin gets to me soon

As a few others have said, I wouldn't give up hope just yet. If it was coming or going to another country I probably would give up but I just had a pin turn up after a month of being lost or misrouted. I mailed a pin on Oct 3 with DC and after about 3 weeks the other trader contacted me to say they still had not gotten the pin. So I checked the tracking information and it said that it never left the sorting station in my town. So we waited a little more and then I went and spoke to someone at the post office, they explained that if I had gotten thrown on the wrong truck "by accident" it could be anywhere in the US, but wouldn't have additional tracking info until it got back on track and arrived in the destination city. Needless to say after a month and endless worrying it arrived a couple of days ago. For as much as we pay we think that we should be getting better service, but in reality USPS is horrible. Perhaps instead of them always striking for more money we need to strike against them for better service.

Yea! It's like their DC is pointless because sometimes they don't even scan it until it has been delivered, and unfortunately for me it didn't get delivered to my house. I call the post office and the lady that picks up tells me "well it says here that is has been delivered, so...." I was really upset! I understand they have tons of mail but isn't there machines now that can help them sort stuff. Or maybe we should blame the machine idk lol

No way! If it says that it has been delivered, they can retrieve the package anyway? How long is the DC good for? a few months?

Im annoyed with the postal service at the moment, I sold a friends aurora doll on ebay and it was going to australia, and it left london on the 29th October and its still not there and what I mean by that is its not in australia at ALL! I actually rang australia post to ask if they ever recieved it and they have no record of it ever entering Australia even though I paid for tracking and Ive sent 2 dolls to the US already and tracking was perfect all the way.

Now Im left thinking where is the damn doll since it left the UK (I posted from Ireland) so who knows where that is and its got tracking and signed for

Clara9271 to be honest I am not sure. I was surprised to see that the status had been changed from being "delivered" to them saying that they made an error. The only thing I could think of is if the person received it and returned it to the post office maybe? I mean I really don't know how it even went to a whole other city miles away especially when it was originally at the correct PO. The address was correct and everything. I was truly baffled. As for DC I did a little searching and found that DC records are archived after 45 days but that you can request to restore your DC record up to 6 months after it's original date.

Oh no! this is horrible the dolls are not only fragile because of the plastic they come in (if they are a designer doll) but they're expensive too! Once I bought a cell phone case from China I got it 2 months after! I thought it would make two weeks since I bought my macbook cover from china too and got it in 2 weeks. This kinda stuff gets me really mad.

Yea that's kind of what i thought that the person returned it.
I'm baffled as well that even with the right address it would end up at the wrong place! When I took my pin to the post office the person there asked me what was in the packet and i said a disney pin and they laughed and were like "why are you sending that?" it got me even more mad that they lose my pins and then make fun of me :( not cool!

Im annoyed for the fact that its somehow got lost between leaving london and arriving in Australia... its as if it just walked right off the plane as I asked the australian woman how long should it have taken and she said 2-4 working days.

Now I know the item was despatched from London on a saturday so might not have gone out till the monday but that still should give it time to arrive in australia sometime last week.

Im more annoyed at the fact that the postal worker in ireland wouldnt let me put the value on the package at 65 euro which is how much it cost me and max was 35 I thought that sucks if it gets lost well I will only get 35 euro returned to me then the rest has to out of my friends pocket so he aint going to be happy with that when I tell him.

I guess the postal workers worldwide don't care for our packages. It bugs me too that they don't even try to help you. Like you said, it's not like the packet just walked away, if it gets lost its their fault for not sorting things properly. When i wait in line at the post office I see some of them sorting in the back and they don't even look if the stuff is FRAGILE they grab all the stuff and throw it into this huge basket! I can't say anything because I feel like the evil people there are going to throw my package to the trash and say it got lost somewhere and of course their not going to do anything about it.

I'm sorry you have had terrible PO experiences and that they are ruining your Pin Trading via mail bad for you as well. :( I hope things turn around for you to make it more pleasant for you!

Im ringing the customer services when it opens in a few hours so I can ask them to look into it as I dont want to issue a refund or claim for lost package until I know for sure its lost as Id wait a week of so to see if there is any update on Anpost.ie (irish post) or Auspost.com (australia) and if not then Id assume its lost as cant take 4 weeks to get to australia in my opinion.

I see them do that in the post office as I often have to go to the parcel counter when you see all other parcels etc get put through into another room and if the area is full it just gets pushed onto the already high pile of boxes without a care if it is fragile or not.

iheartdumbo - I really hope that things DO turn around for me to make my trading more pleasant too :) Thanks

Stitch2814 - Yes you should definitely call them!! It's not your fault that the packet got lost so hopefully something can be worked out. Yes they have been discovered! We know what they do to our packets! lol Hopefully your dolls shows up soon, it's a pretty big box its not a small package so they have to see it somewhere!
