So I just got the key to my mailbox after moving to my new place over 2 weeks ago but to my surprise there is nothing in the mailbox. I have at least 4 packages come on during the last two weeks that said they were delivered in there, not including two that said they were delivered last Thursday and any zaps I might have received. I am at a lost of where all my packages went. All the addresses I checked were correct and the days I have waited by the box and caught the mail carrier I was able to get some of the packages and mail out.

So, I am thinking since I am told that my route does not have a regular carrier that maybe the mailman delivered to the wrong address or box. Which I can understand once or twice but not on numerous different occasions. I have packages that said they were delivered on Sept 24, Sept 26, Sept 27, Sept 28, Oct 6, and Oct 7 missing. So that is a lot to be put in the wrong box and not eventually turn up. I would hope if that was the case the person who got them would return them back to the post office.

The other idea is someone must have the key to my box and has been stealing my packages. Because it seems the days I am able to catch the mailman to hand deliver the mail to me, or the time I called the post office to come down personally and open the unit for my so I can grab my mail, are the only deliveries that make it to me. I just had the mailman open the unit for me an hour ago and every slot is packed with newspapers, ads, letters, all but mine. Not even one ad or flyer. And I didn't see my packages in the other slots. So not sure if someone is taking me mail.

Whatever is the case I now have 7 of my 15 tracked packages from the last 2 weeks gone missing, despite saying they were delivered. Which is a lot, 50% gone missing. And that is not counting any gifts from friends or family, surprise letters, or zaps I might have received. Not really sure what to do, I opened 4 cases last week for the first 4 that went missing and USPS closed them right away saying they been delivered to the mailbox. I am opening 3 new cases now and called the post office again to let them know, but doubt it would be any help.

This is the first time such a thing has happened and now I am stressing out that either the mailman keeps delivering to the wrong address or that someone has a key to my mailbox and has been taking my mail. So I guess that means I need to put pin trades and zaps on a hold now until I can figure out what is happening.

You can see if your complex has a security camera somewhere pointing toward the mailboxes. Have you tried calling your local dispatch office? I remember you called the national service, but the local people should know much better than than them. If the person before you took their key with them the apartment complex should have gotten a new lock and key out of their deposit.

Yeah I been only calling my local post office, they haven't been helpful. Called them nearly everyday first week and called them again last week and just again today. I am checking with my landlords about who else might have the key, no response back yet.

I think your landlords would be liable if they didn't get the lock replaced after someone moved out. You paid for an uncompromised mailbox, and if the previous tenant took the key, you're not getting what you paid for.

Yeah just got off the phone with the landlords. They tell me the previous lady they rented the place to, works for the government and doesn't seem to be the type of person to steal mail. So not really sure what to make of it. But since it's USPS that owns and operates the communal mailbox I might have to ask them to change the lock if possible. I just left some bait packages inside the box. If they disappear then I know someone has access. Though still hoping the mail carriers could retrace their steps and find the packages somewhere.
