So awhile ago when I was still new, I'm still new but I know a lot more then I did a couple of weeks ago, to pin trading I made the mistake of buying a grab bag on eBay. I know some of you guys know that if you read that thread. Anyway so I ordered a 25 pin grab bag from MPO and it's sad to say that my bag was a bust. Almost all the pins are scrappers. A couple of them look to be okay but I can't say for sure. You would think for the price of their grab bags they would atleast be all real pins. So I wanted to make anyone aware if they were thinking of getting one of their grab bags to check all the pins carefully. Has anyone here ordered from them and had the same problem? Or didn't have this problem? If you had this problem how did it go as to fixing it or getting a refund?

Thanks all. :fig:

I just got my grab bag from MPO today. I wouldn't say they are all counterfeit, some are nice pins that are not being faked, but some are questionable for sure. Two are definitely fakes per pinpics. MPO states that all pins are tradable in parks, and unfortunately that's true. I know these came from CM lanyards in the park and Gary just returned from WDW. I have to treat MPO pins with the same risk as CM pins and you're paying for the markup. You'll have to decide if it's worth it. The reason I don't dismiss these pins as fakes is because Disney (and China) blur the lines of authenticity. The Grape Sully's pin that is on DisneyStore.com has a waffle pattern that looks very fake but it's not. Fortunately for me it's about the pins my kids and me like and the excitement of trading.

Im so sorry to hear this! I only buy grab bags from people here to be sure I get authentic pins.

But please, if you got fakes, return the whole bag and get money back! Dont help filling those CM lanyards with fakes just because they have to trade with you. That how they always gets filled with fakes.

Or use them for crafting projects. Of course my kids have ended up with quite a few fakes after a day at the parks so we sort those out and then we use them as pins on my info board at work, we turned a few into jewelries and magnets for the fridge. They still look cute!

But please just dont trade them back to the parks. I know my kids were so sad when they spend their christmas gift money on buying real pins in the parks so they could trade on our first trip and when we got home I learned about fakes and saw that almost every pin they traded for are fakes. Those kids are the ones getting the bad end of the deal, not the CMs

But Im sure the people buying fakes on ebay on purpose to trade for real pins to make money were home and happy. And yes there are people doing that on purpose.

So please try to not be one of those who trade them at the parks just because you can, or because every one else is doing it. Its because of those people that CMs lanyards is always full with fakes.

Oh And Im not saying that you would do that, Im just writing this so new members understand how it works. We need to teach people about fakes to try to stop people from buying them in the first place!

Every change starts with one person! :)

I completely agree with you. When I went to Disney and learned about pin trading I bought a couple of starter sets plus some hidden Mickey packs so my wife and I could start collecting. We started trading with the CM while we were there. When we came home I found this website and learned a lot about pins and trading and the whole works. Turns out that almost all of the pins I traded for were fakes. That right there takes pins that I paid full Disney price and turns it into nothing. Just a lot of money down the drain for having fun. Once I found out these were fakes I separated them from the real ones. So yea it's not fair that people don't care and just trades them anyways. But that is just how the world works now a days.

Yes unfortunally there are too many people who only cares about them self. Thats why I love it so much here! Everyone is too kind and generous. :)

Its hard to spot a fake in the beginning and Im sure I miss one or two ones and again. And while I make sure my kids only have real pins on their lanyard when we go to a park I wont go check them all day long, they trade as they want so if they get a fake they might keep it or trade it again the same day. But in the evening when I get back I try to take the fakes they got away. Most of the times they traded for it because they want to keep it and if they find fakes they want to keep that is totally fine by me. Its all about what the kids like in the end.

And sure we might loose some money in the quest to take away fake pins and only giving real ones back, but I see it as a good thing to do. Like a pay it forward thing.

One of my girls most treasured pin is a fake actually. It was the first pin she got. It was given to us by some people in the park. Sure, today I know that all the pins the girls got were fakes, but it was what got us into pin trading in the first place so it will always be a tresured pin. Today she has the real version of it too, but she wont take that fake away :)

We always have a bag with give away pins (only real ones of course) :) too that my girls can give to kids that looks like they need them. Its such a small thing to do to brighten someones day.
