Hello! I'm rather new to pin trading, and I'm attending Pumpkin King Trading Event at DSF this Friday. With my ticket includes a LE 125 golden NBC marquee pin (just like any El Capitan marquee pin, but all gold cast). Since I don't collect NBC I'm going to either sell or trade it. But have no idea the value of it. I've had some people express interest, from offering me $90 to a trade with LE 500 Stitch. Because I'm new I don't want to be taken advantage of, and would like to have a fair trade/sale. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

While it's a LE125, only 100 of them are being given out at the event. BUT, on the other hand, it's NBC and DSF does NBC events every year and has a NBC marquee every year (this is the first one they've asked for payment for an event.)

Since you don't intend to keep it, try selling it for the cost of the event ($145) and then work your way down from there.

Mkat27 I am so jealous that you get to go to the event! Have so much fun and take photos! Which pin are you most excited about getting?

Thanks!! It's going to be my first trading event! My traders aren't the best, but I'm hoping to meet new people and make some good trades along the way!

That is awesome! Are you going to pick up yourself a complete set of all of the LE pins they are releasing for the event?

My prediction is it will fall pretty hard after the event and Halloween season is over. NBC pins don't do well any other time of the year and marquees have been diving to record lows lately. There aren't even 125 hardcore marquee collectors anymore. The evidence is the latest, the Alexander marquee is still available. Last year, every marquee sold out quickly. Now you're lucky to trade one for a PTD. I see this maybe settling around $80 max after the event and then falling lower after that. Vanellope/Felix LE150 is arguably a better pin with a bigger collector base and they are pretty low now. Plus, not many people care for monochromatic pins. It's like the chasers at the park. Disney wants you to believe all silver, no paint fill is better. But people aren't dumb. All silver is kind of lame. All gold marquee....probably fail.

Actually, I think there was one or two other marquees that lasted a day or two, but it's always the ones for movies no one really cares about (like Alexander). If it _only_ appeals to marquee collectors, it'll sit around for a while, that never really changed much. It's just that most of them appeal to multiple collectors (marquee, whatever the movie is, whatever the LE is if it's low)... Oz and Planes 2 for example (Planes 2 lasted at least 6 days, and I have several Oz pins, so that must have lasted at least 3...)

Also, keep in mind, this isn't just a paint-less pin, it's actually cast in 3-D, and it's a huge jumbo pin (3 inches wide, a lot bigger than the regular marquee), so it has some additional appeal than just an 'unpainted version of the regular pin'.

But overall I don't really disagree with you on most of that...

I'm definitely going to pick up a set, and since my bf who doesn't collect pins is also going, i'm going to pick up another Vanellope, olaf, marquee and maybe one more.

I think you have some valid points. But those who's shown interest in the gold marquee have so far been NBC collectors, not marquee collectors. it's interesting how much the demand fluctuates for different pins!

I have the first ever NBC marquee for trade, the 12 days of nightmare one with the coffin. It's maybe worth $99. They are really old and maybe 3 or 4 available via traders and eBay. Yet you're going to tell me this brand new unpainted one is going to be more than that? I don't think so. NBC collectors show up around early Sept and go away early November every year. And their pins rise and fall before/during/after. I'm not worried, in a few months there will be 10 of these asking $60 and after all the NBC folks are back in hibernation the marquee collectors who didn't it will be the only option left to offload it to.

uhm, I'm not sure where I've said that it's going to be worth more than any particular pin, but thanks for your opinion and have a great day!
