What do you all think? I apologize if this was already posted somewhere else.

Any action, however meager, DSSH takes in an effort to put a damper on the madness is a most welcome one.

Agreed. I am just trying to spread this so people become aware. Some people with late jobs or night school will be wasting there time if they go after school/work for a PTD.

And how about visitors from El Capitan ? It will stop the PTD madness though. But I think a lot of people from El Capitan would grab a pin traders delight afterwards.

Was it changed back to anytime again after it was bought?

Yes, they extended the hours for opening and closing when it reopened.

Not that long ago, and after it was partnered with Ghiradelli the rule was no PTD's within one hour of closing. I don't know when that stopped. Still, too little too late for me. While I appreciate them trying to do something the fix is higher LE and 2 per person. But this is about money. They don't want to keep paying overtime to workers who don't get a chance to clean up until closing because all these flippers sit and wait after dark.

I agree. My husband went up there last Friday night to pick up his wristband for the event on Saturday and there was a line at least 100 people deep for the PTD and it hadn't even changed to King Triton yet. It's driving up the second market price on almost all of them no matter what character it seems

Thanks for the info. Very timely for me. I will be in LA next week and may have a chance to head over to DSSH. I haven't been there since Ghiradelli took it over. What time is the earliest that they sell them? And do you have to buy the ice cream? Or can you just buy the pin? And do you buy them on the ice cream side? Or the store side? Or are there no more sides since the remodel??
I used to park at the lot across the street under the Kodak Theater. Is that still the best place to park?
Thanks in advance!

Agreed. I'm fairly new to pin trading, so I'm wondering: is the PTD rage a new thing? I've heard from different sources that in the past couple of years DSF/GSF has hit a dry spell during the summer; PTDs sell out and the store doesn't bring them back until the late summer/early fall. Does that mean people typically start getting the summer craze for ptds, the storm calms down, there is peace, and then it just starts up again? Or, is this literally a new craze?

Seems like this was put into effect after the whole "Beta" ptd situation. They closed the doors AT 11 with a bunch of people still waiting outside to get him. Once they closed them, i guess things were said and while they did open the doors and let people come in to buy the ptd, i knew it was matter of time before something was going to be done about this...I dont mind it...helps control the madness a little bit...

After what happened last night, they are considering cutting off PTD sales precisely at 9:30pm. You could be the next guy in line, but you'll still be out of luck if 9:30 comes before you're at the front of the line.

No. They don't stop selling them. There was one incident when poor planning resulted in no PTDs for awhile but that was a one time situation. The PTD rage has been going on for about a year or so. I started collecting them two years ago before all this madness began. It was 2 per person back then and they were easier to get. Now it's almost impossible to get them unless you live very close to the soda fountain. :(

Not sure if you've made it down, but there's only one line/side for purchases of ice cream or merchandise and it's straight down the middle of the store.

The lot across the street under the Kodak Theatre is still the best. During the princess release, the GSF ticket validation machine wasn't working (2 hours for $2) so they were taking them into El Capitan to get validated (4 hours for $2)

I think the thing that people fail to realize is that this craziness is driving up the price of even older PTD's now. Blue Pascal held tight in price ever since he came out at about $75 but now I see listings on Ebay for double the price just because now PTD's are the it thing. I hear of a lot of people getting out of collecting them lately. I was wondering when this PTD mob would wear out it's welcome with DSF.

I think, like everything else, there is a bubble to these things and eventually it will burst. Things tend to go in waves of popularity since a market can only withstand too much. When hype and prices become too much, discontent brews, people get out of the game, suddenly prices dropv, then it becomes the stock marktet where people are desperately selling things and undercutting each other's prices to get out before they become worthless. (We saw it a tiny bit with the WIR PTD that sold for $150 plus day of and then settled into the 80 range). Over time it will even out and things will regain some of their value and not be as crazy before. Whether or not the craze starts up again just depends on what other hot ticket items become available, if any, to collect. Not always - because some items we have seen definitely appreciate in value over time and retain that value - but with craze type items, patience will usually win out for better pricing. I think only flagship type characters and popular but rarely produced characters will ever stay expensive and get more expensive long term. IE, I predict WIR, despite his initial drop, will increase in value over time when the ratio of collectors to sharks that have him in possession changes then the collectors that don't have him need to shell out more to get him. Just my two cents.

What happened? If they stopped selling at 9:30pm last night then my friend would have a chance to pick up Gamma for me this morning. I can't tell if Gamma was sold out or not so I can tell her not to go or not.

Gamma did sell out last night, new PTD. If you get in line before 9:30 you are issued a ticket. The ticket allows you to buy the PTD after 9:30, when no more tickets are issued. So last night the line was there till 11 (when I left) down in the ally. The new PTD is Bernard from The Rescuers. I got there in line before 9 and got Bolt, the line stayed down the ally the entire time I was there. So they don't stop selling at 9:30, but you can't get on line or purchase after 9:30 unless you have the ticket. And they keep you in ticket order, checking the number on the ticket to make sure you are in the position you were when the tickets were handed out.
