Hello!

new to trading and new to this forum. i was wondering about Disney Soda Fountain in SoCal.

-----------------
Questions about Pin Trader Delights Only:

1) do the PTD's come with a paper backing like the LE's from the park? most pictures on instagram suggest they just come in a plastic baggy. note that i'm not referring to the regular releases. this is the buy a desert get a pin deal.

2) when does the PTD's rotate? some say that it does when it sells out, others suggest every friday. which is it?

3) are ptd's (mainly the newer ones, say 2012 or above) counterfeited?

4) are these PTD pins in high demand? (if they aren't some popular character, IE elsa)

----------------------------
Questions about regular releases at DSF:

5) on a day where there's a super anticipated pin, it tends to be VERY crowded early. sept 26 2014's release for the stained glass princesses was EXTREMELY popular. instagram had a bunch of posts of people going at like 1am. what's a good time to go for popular pins like this?

6) where do people park?

7) how does the queue work to get vouchers? people first get first pick? when do they hand out vouchers? is there a presale?

8) advice?

thanks so much!!

I can field some of these.

As far as I know... they are only in little plastic bags no backers.

Ptds now are released in sets of 4... you can buy 2 a day but not of the same character. . If inly 1 character is left you can only buy 1 a day... per person. It flips/rotates when all 4 pins are sold out... sometimes that can be a couple days or a couple weeks depending on the character.

As far as I know... no they are not counterfeited yet.

Most ptds are in high demand. .. but some characters more so.

1) do the PTD's come with a paper backing like the LE's from the park? No, a few older ones did but the current ones come in a plastic baggiemost pictures on instagram suggest they just come in a plastic baggy. note that i'm not referring to the regular releases. this is the buy a desert get a pin deal. Its called a Pin Traders Delight where there is a pin as a GWP Gift with Purchase

2) when does the PTD's rotate? PTD "rotate" or flip as we call it when all the LE of that character runs out. Currently 4 are released at one so until the last pin of the 4 released is gone then it flipssome say that it does when it sells out, others suggest every friday No set date just when it happens it happens and everyone drives as fast as they can to buy and sell it. which is it?

3) are ptd's (mainly the newer ones, say 2012 or above) counterfeited? No. PTD's have been out for awhile. each year comes with its year produces. There are some older PTD's that have been faked but most PTD collectors know which ones

4) are these PTD pins in high demand? (if they aren't some popular character, IE elsa) Some are in high demand. its called a craze since if these characters were released at a disney park, they would be sitting on the racks. But since its a craze, its more of a modern day pyramid party.

It does not matter what release yo go to. DSSH post the monthly flyer and rules to follow staring wristband cut off time. you just have to be in line 1 minute prior to cutoff the her a wristband for that release. a lot of people get there hours early to avoid traffic and or live far away.

6) where do people park? Hollywood and hyland underground parking. validate at the theatre to get 4 hour rather than the 2 hour in the store

7) how does the queue work to get vouchers? get in line people first get first pick? all depends on your voucher received when do they hand out vouchers? vouchers are avouched on the flyeris there a presage? the only presages are from resellers. DSSH sell pins starting at 6 am or whenever the rules state

8) advice? Leave this hobby, Run, Run fast, you'll save time and money and heartaches

thanks so much!!
your welcome

Release questions...

As long as you are in line before the cutoff you are good... you will get a wrist band and a chance to get a good number... there is no benefit to being there super early at the front of the line... except you know sooner if you get a number that means you can buy all or some of the pins.

People park where they can... the cheapest place I know of is the mall across the streets parking garage.

You get a wrist band and when the line is cut off they put numbers in a drum equal to the number of people on line... then they hand out numbers from the drum. So you could be last in line of 1000 people and get to buy pins because you pulled a good number. It is a game of chance. No presales done buy Dsf.

Advice... bring a chair, something to do and if it is a popular release lots of friends yhat don't want the pins.

thanks all so much for the great replies. it sounds like it's a lottery system where you pull numbers out of a hat? so getting there first could mean you're last if you pull a terrible number?

Yes, except the DSF employees pull the number.

And if you're first, you know whether or not you have to stick around. Otherwise, you could be waiting an hour for your turn to get a number pulled for you.

I just recently got into collecting pins too and will give you a tip, as I made a disappointing trip to DSF today :3

Anyways the set of PTD flipped last night so I went there this morning to try and get some. When they say "no camping out" that just means "not in front of the store". There is a alley between the DSF and this tour bus store, people line up in there lol. So yea they start selling at 11 AM but the line was down the alley and around the corner by then. Didn't manage to pick something up today since I couldn't afford to get in line, but now I know for next time :)
