I was just browsing some of the Facebook pin pages and came across a guy that is selling a LE 3000 60th Anniversary Diamond Pin for $30.00 shipped. According to another person on the post, this pin isn't supposed to be released until this coming Saturday. People were PMing him then he posted again that he was sold out until he got his hands on more. If it was a stock Disney photo I would guess that he is doing a presale thing for people out of the area, but he had the pin on the cardboard back in the palm of his hand.

I'm just wondering if I'm missing something here. Is there a way to obtain pins early? Maybe a secret inside source I have to seek out?

Hey there!

This actually happens ALL THE TIME.

Mostly with OE pins but LE's every once in a while too, and they either are sold early or pulled from the shelf :3

I got a few boxes of the Lion King puzzle set about a week before wide release last summer because they put the boxes out early. :wat:

I've never had this happen to me for pins (since I don't live near the parks) but it almost always happens for movies or books that aren't supposed to be released for a week or two. Sometimes employees (especially in large retail settings) don't think to check the boxes for appropriate display dates and the merchandise just goes out. I got lucky and was able to buy Harry Potter IV almost a week early (at a Barnes & Noble) and the same with Toy Story 2 when it first came out on DVD (at a Wal-Mart).

Same for me. Yesterday I picked up a box of the new pokemon card set..

That doesn't release until next thursday

thats crazy Some times DVDs / CDs have a do not sell sign on the box. breaking street date will result in fine or withholding future releases. seems like they dont care most of the time. lol

as far as pins i have grabbed some almost a month early before.

I don't know if it's the same in the US but here in the UK they aren't supposed to go on sale early but they nearly always do . Especially the highly anticipated releases , if they get the stock early they'll risk a fine . When the last Harry Potter book came out one major chain store came out and said they'd happily pay the fine as their profits would dwarf the fee !
It's all about the bottom line these days

Eh, as a customer who enjoys the merchandise AND the added bonus of receiving it earlier than usual, I'm not about to complain or make the store aware of their faux pas, LOL! And while I realize heavy fines can be implemented if the retailer is caught, most cases it is a matter of a small slap on the wrist and a warning, especially if it truly is an accidental now and again circumstance.

Romancing_Train, I forgot about early game card releases. Yep, those too can sometime become available before they're supposed to. Pretty neat when you get to be on the lucky receiving end of such things, huh?

I really don't mind if regular pins get released early, but with LE pins I would be pretty bummed if I went on the day of release only to have a CM say oops, we released them early.

Understandable. But if you knew you wouldn't be able to go to the park on the day a pin you wanted was to be released and then you saw it being released a week earlier when you were at the park, would you gather up all of the pins and inform a CM that they needed to put them away because someone had erred and the pins were not to be sold this early? Or would you buy a pin and think "Score! It's my lucky day!"?

I understand your point as well. I guess Disney needs to somehow get a handle on early releases. But then as much merchandise as they are releasing daily that might be impossible.
