Hi, I bought pin 73663 recently, and have since heard there might be fakes, so if someone who knows their Jessica as Ursula pin is real could look at the pictures of my pin and let me know if it looks like yours or not. I wanted to trade it, but now am not sure. Thanks!

Also, what does yours say on the back?

I have it. Purchased directly from Disneystore.com

Backstamp and pin look exactly the same. Seems authentic to me.

Until I saw the back of your pin, I had forgotten that Amblin produced Who Framed Roger Rabbit. If it is not genuine, I will have to have more respect for counterfeiters.

You are fine. Why did you think it might be fake? I don't see any warning on pinpics. And I don't see a bunch on ebay. Don't worry and don't fall for scrapper hysteria. It's all good!

Someone I was working out another trade with asked about it and when I said it didn't have the card, they said they couldn't trade for it because of all the counterfeits (their words, not mine).

Yeah, not everyone keeps the card. There is no evidence of fakes on these. They sound a bit paranoid.

Because PinPics has been removing scrapper warnings on many of their pins over the last several months.

I seem to recall the original explanation was that they wouldn't post scrapper warnings anymore without images/proof of fakes.

I have to kind of agree with that. There should be evidence of scrappers before placing a warning.

In the case of scrappers (and by this I mean factory seconds), evidence might be hard to photograph. Rough/lined finish, dips in the 'paint' and sharp edges that true scrappers have are hard to photograph, but very easily seen. Now design mistakes/variations made when making counterfeit pins would usually be pretty easy to document with a photograph. Also, PinPics needs to start showing the backs of the pins as they often yield clues to authenticity.

While it may be hard to document, I think it is better for them to encourage photographic proof before declaring scrapper paranoia on a pin. Honestly even Disney quality control causes me to question some scrapper warnings. More than once I've bought a pin straight from the parks (usually through the mystery blind bags) and it will feel rough, have paint imperfections or may seem lighter than most pins. I feel like with those pins especially I better sell them with the wrapper to hopefully assure the buyer they came from Disney!

And definitely agree on the back of pins needing to be shown- it would be so helpful and appreciated!

As to the OP, I do not have that pin but happy for you that it sounds like you can trust it All the best in trading it!

You just have to be careful. I own this pin and so do several friends of mine. I know a pretty nasty horror story involving this very pin that resulted in someone getting banned from a pin store and a buddy of mine having to raise hell because they got a fake. I personally got to hold the fake in my hand and compare it to mine and it was pretty bad. The base metal was a different shade entirely, the paint on the front was dippy, and the colors were off by several shades on the front. Yours however looks fine to me. Now I wish I took pics of that fake before my friend returned it...
