This is a replica of Walt Disney's personal name badge from Disneyland. The original was thought lost for many years, until Ed Ovalle at the Archives found it last October in Roy O. Disney's personal files. It was in a box that they had seen many times on the shelves, but had never inventoried its contents. This badge was inside that box, in a plain envelope. The original badge was on display at the D23 Expo this year, in the Treasures of the Archives exhibit..

The replica version is an amazing pin. It's a lovingly created tribute to the original. It's similar to the previous version released ten years ago, but of far superior quality. Highly recommended for any fan of vintage Disneyland pins, or Walt Disney pins. :hsd:

They were on sale at the D23 Expo, in the Archives store for $29.99. They might be for sale on the D23 webpage, tho I am not sure about that. I have seen a few of them up for sale on ebay.

None of the unsold pins from the D23 Expo have showed up in the D23 store yet. I'm not sure how long it will take. It seems in 2009 they popped up about a month after the event was over, if I recall.

This is an LE of 1955, and from what I understand it was not a huge seller at the show, so the rest should pop-up for sale either online or at the park.

As I've already been to the park this year, I'm hoping for online.

That's due to the sad fact that 99% of the pin community doesn't even know what it is, or how rare the original metal badges actually are. And that 99% doesn't even care. If it doesn't have Stitch, or a princess, or whatever flavor of the day or current collectible fad happens to be, they ignore it.
