QUESTION Pin Acquisitions
Buying for me is direct from Disney. I do have some friends that help with pickups. I will occassionally buy on eBay if there is a particular pin i need to finish a set and have been challenged getting it. And when there are sales here on DPF I'll participate if they have what I need. I never buy at events or from individuals in other ways. The events are solely trading for me. Also trade on P&P and, to a lesser degree, PP.
Pin and pop. And pinpics. Both are sites where you can set up an account with your traders and wants and then trade with other members. Pinpics lets you trade anytime by sending a trade offer to someone while pin and pop holds virtual trading events several times throughout the year.
Next event for PinandPop is July 11-13th. If you'd like a very extensive video on how the site works I've got a couple of videos available on my Youtube channel explaining the process. (same name as my username here on the Forum.. pardon the shameless plug)Understood. I did just sign up for pinpics. I’ll need to go sign up for pin and pop then. Thanks for the advice!

Perhaps not getting to this hobby late... perhaps instead, you have a fun challenge to try to find a way to gain those older pins. I also think most of us fall into the category of late joiners as there are only a few traders that claim being in this hobby from 2000 (or some claim before 2000). I came in 15 years into it (2015.) Its been a blast trying to find some of the older pins and such a rush when I gain them.
Pinandpop has been a wonderful trade source and with their inspection process for both sides of the trade I think this is helpful for new traders. I recommend pinandpop.
I buy a lot of pins from origin sources at: Disney Parks, Disneystore.com, Disney Outlets (a few remain throughout the US), Disney Character Warehouses (in Orlando and Miami), BoxLunch, HotTopic, Loungefly.com, pinkalamode.com, bubblebar.com, disneypinsblog.com, pulsegallery.uk, pinapalooza.net, figpin.com... And other random places... Bought some from Macy's this week. I try to avoid eBay, but if I am confident in a pin and it is priced right I will pick up a pin random pins from eBay. The pins I buy are classified. Some are keepers and I set those aside and they stay home. Some are traders and those I drag to pin events to gain the pins I am in search of via trade.
I have not used Whatnot and my current mind set is that I will probably continue to avoid buying pins on Whatnot.
