Hi there ... I really need to sell some pins for financial reasons so I'm turning to you experts for some pin sale advice. I have some higher end and harder to find pins that I'm putting up for sale. Pins like: 33587 DA Lilo & Stitch as Belle & Beast, 27729 DA Stitch in Red Cruiser, 33825 DA Stitch holding Mickey Doll, 41847 DS Halloween Lilo & Stitch, 36280 WDW PoDH 20,000 Leagues, 31058 DA Twitterpated Thumper & Bunny plus a few others including some older Nurse Minnie pins.

I also have a new/unused 37218 DA Stitch Pin Trader Hip Bag.

What do you think ... would it be better to put these pins up for sale on the DPF Sale Board or should I put them up on eBay? All thoughts and comments appreciated! Thank you!! *bjr

Honestly I'd say sell here rather than Ebay. Here you know you'll be selling to pin collectors and traders, many of which know that the pins you've listed are high end and will expect to be paying a reasonable amount for them. If you really need the money, I'd suggest not going the Ebay route for two main reasons.

1) Ebay charges a fee for listing. Every time you list a separate item, Ebay gets a small cut.
2) There aren't any guarantees that someone who wins one of your auctions will pay. I've lost money on Ebay in a few ways, both by listing and not getting anything back and by sending money and then never receiving the item I'd paid for.

Hi! I think if you check the prices on ebay and then put them here for the going rates or average then you can avoid paying the ebay fees and sell them quicker. You have several pins that are on my wants that I would consider buying. I think I bought a pin from you in December that was great! Also I appreciate when people only charge what shipping costs. I have wanted a pin from some sellers here and did not buy because they were charging $3 or more for the shipping and they can be shipped for $1.69 on paypal or around $2.09 at the post office. Just my thoughts. Good luck either way!

I would say try it here first them move to ebay if you have anything left. On the postage don't forget that you need to add the bubble mailers and bubble wrap into the price. If you mail it at the post office with delivery confirmation its $2.97, if you use Paypal it is $1.69 but the supplies cost money too.

Sell here but accept payment as goods to give your buyers that comfy feeling

Look at the average selling price on ebay and price accordingly (5-10% lower because you don't have to pay fees and buyer loses out on ebay bucks.) Don't forget to charge 3% for the PayPal fee or work it into your advertised price.

I sell mostly here, because there are no fee's, and because its for people who I know and luv.

on the rare occasion I do eBay sell, its because I need maximum $$ for the item, or don't think the folks here are interested in it as much. Ebay is great if you want a larger market, number of views.... but the fee's suck.

Selling on ebay will cost you 10% of the TOTAL sales price including shipping. If you sell here you can avoid that 10% even selling as goods. You will be charged 2.9%+.30 fee to accept payments as good through paypal if they pay with either a paypay balance or transfer from their checking account, if they use a credit card it is a little bit more. Over all if I was to sell my pins I would definitely try to sell them here first to give members the first shot at them and if you offer a discount based on what you will be saving in ebay fees you will still make the exact same amount or possibly more since as I said ebay charges 10% of all shipping costs as well (thanks to people trying to avoid fees by jacking up the shipping)

If you sell to people that are comfortable to send payment as a gift instead of goods, using paypal is FREE if its a transfer! You can also ask those that are not comfortable sending it as a gift to add the 3% fee or to pay it themselves on paypal. You look to have some great feedback so I am sure you will get LOTS of interest in the pins!

Good luck either way!

If you don't have a big selling reputation on eBay it can hurt the final value you get for the pins...also, as a bunch of people have stated you pay a fee, and then another fee and a fee on top of that. oh, and when the buyers pay....they charge you a fee.

At least on here you can ASK a certain price and negotiate from there, and get the funds potentially as a "gift" so you pay ZERO in fees. Good luck!!

This is just my experience but, I tried here and had to resort to Ebay. About a month ago I was in the same boat I really needed the money. I figured selling on here would be better to avoid the fees plus I felt better selling to fellow pin collectors and traders. I estimated prices lower than eBay prices so they would sell better but no one bought anything. I left it on here for some 2 weeks and got like 200-300 views but, not one person bought anything. I got one or two people wishing me good luck or wanting to trade and that was about it. I figured after 2 weeks and 100- 200 views no one was interested.

I was kind of forced to put up on eBay and higher the prices to cover fees and shipping and they all sold within one week of my auctions opening. Later on when talking to fellow members they told me it may be because I did not have a reputation here and I was new is why I didn't sell anything. So, for me the pro: for selling on eBay you don't have to be personally known as long as your feedback score is excellent and your hitting a larger market. Con: The eBay fees. Selling on here pros: you can avoid the fees and Selling on here you know your pins are going to fellow collectors. Cons: if your not well known it can take months to sell something here and when your hurting for the money sometimes you don't have months.

Overall, if you got the time and don't need the money ASAP then try here first. Plus It looks like you may not have any of the problems I had. You've been a long time member as well as, having some hard to find pins. My problem was I was a new member here on DPF and all I had was pins from DSF. So, try on here first then if it does not work out you can resort to eBay. Plus I think you are already getting offers ^! Lol. Good luck with your sale. Hope my opinion helped

Thank you to everyone for your advice! I am still contemplating which pins to put up for sale ... once I get a bit of time, I will post some pins. Thanks again! Take care, *bjr

it depends on your price, if you only want below market than here but if its an ebay price than ebay. i find some members are way over sensitive about the price of pin. than you have to think about fees with ebay. either way the market is the same collectors/resellers/sharks DPF and ebay each have these so thats irrelevant. i find DPF better becuse i can avoid the fee and get the much needed cash faster.

I hate to sound like the bad guy here, but I actually prefer selling on eBay. Don't get me wrong, I really love a lot of people on this website, however I tend to on both this page and any of the other Facebook pages run into a bunch of people that want you to give them something for nothing. They feel like
Well we are true collectors and actually care, so they shouldn't have to pay the going rate for something. Now if you are truly my friend then yes, I often well take a hit for them, but just one of the random other thousands of people on here, sorry, no.
I feel like I spent way to much time haggling with people and dealing with crap. It really is much easier, even if I don't get as much money to just to put it on eBay and say what I want and not deal we with all the hassle and amount of time it all takes. Ebay equals easy to me, and that is worth it.
