All thirty of the NBA experience pins have been added to PTDB!
29073 pins so far in the database. I've tried to merge the duplicates that have been noted in this thread as well as in PMs...
Starry, thank you for allowing any types of pictures to be added to the database without all of the ridiculous restrictions required by that "other pin database site". I, personally, do not even try to post anything there anymore based on the restrictions they have.
You're welcome! We are asking for pictures to be taken on a plain white or plain black background (no texture, etc.). We have seen too many pictures with people's hands, fingers, mattresses, etc....
Agree, clean pictures are always best. But agree with @figment919 the flexibility to have more than one pin and some pics on card backs, etc. is really nice.
I also have stopped adding pins to Pinpics database… mostly because I feel my time and effort is better spent with pintradingdb.com and collectiblepintrader.com.
Hope all is well with you and Ryan. Anything new in the database world??
Pin #30082 lists Olu from Aulani as Squirt from Finding Nemo, which would make the pin very difficult to find for Olu collectors.
On a separate note, is there going to be an added way to flag listings that are incorrect (or dupes)? I feel like that would be useful for important details since this is all user-submitted and submissions are accepted right away. That way mods can focus on other stuff and don't have to hunt down these things. I'm sure it's already been mentioned/in the process of being addressed, but just a thought.
Got Olu fixed.
Couple of suggestions for the site though:
1- Can the search bar be placed somewhere toward the top and made visible at all times? (Like when viewing a single pin, still have the search at the top, maybe next to the logo.)
Otherwise I keep having to go back to another page first before I can search again...
2- A way to search by release date. Fortunately the database it programmed to standardize the date entry so they are all mm/dd/yyyy vs people typing in the date anyway they want.. I'd love to be able to search for pins released on x date.
3- include all and portions of the SKU in the search (or an option to search by SKU). That might be a little tougher since the SKU entry isn't standardized, so 400014295476 and 4-00014-29547-6 are the same SKU (and Disney might even use a shortened 1429547 or something). But just a thought, since the info is there, it would be nice to have some option to search it...
@ryanfury is the one to ask these questions. I will direct him here
Need help figuring out which colors to identify these as:
The description on BoxLunch says: silver, gunmetal, gold, rosegold...I know silver, gold and rosegold, but which one of these would be considered gunmetal.
Numbering them 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 from top left to bottom right.
1 and 8 are gun metal
Thanks! As I was looking at it, I figured at least #1 was.
So, I named them:
Hopefully the names are OK.
Also, I added the Rise of the Skywalker pins from Shop Disney (the LE ones) and am missing what Pin #1 is (not the logo pin that came with the tin, but the one that was released at the same time). I'll have to go through archives and see if I can find it.
29553 pins and counting!
500 MORE to get to 30,000 pins by the new year?!
BTW, our numbers are higher (the number assigned to the pin) - at 30,800+, due to the sheer number of duplicates that people have been entering into the database. Unfortunately, when the duplicate pin is merged with the original pin, there is no way to re-use the duplicate's number on a new pin
Would it be fair to say the duplicates might be created:
1) if someone does not do a through check before uploading a pin?
2) if someone leaves out main key words from the description? The most common words a user would use to search for the pin?
So both the primary and duplicate pin listings are responsible to confirm they do their part to avoid duplicates.
What are other ways we can avoid duplicates?
#1 - yes, although many of them are exact duplicates of the original listing, down to the description. So, instead of adding it to their "owns/trades/wants" list(s), the user creates an exact duplicate of the listing and then adds it to the owns/trades/wants list.
#2 - sometimes, but not often. See #1.
Not to sound awful, but is there a way to give a warning or remove the accounts of people duplicating listings? It sounds like an awfully annoying behaviour and potentially intentional provoking of the mods. Possibly trolling, if you ask me.
I've been banning people for a few weeks (up to a month) while I fix the listings
Oh so people think they have to make their own listing to have it listed in their account? Never thought about that.
I have no idea what goes on in their heads. LOL
We also have people who take PinPics' pictures of the pins and use it on PTDB and even copy the pin # onto the listing. It is very strange.
I just uploaded 13 more pins. Now over 29600. Under 400 to go to get to 30,000 by the new year!
We can do it!
We didn't make it to 30,000 pins before the new year started But we will still trek forward. I am hoping we can make it to 35,000 pins by the end of this year
I'm adding the pins from the Cinderella PTN in February....
29 more pins til we hit 30,000!!!!
I've added the Shop Disney pins (couples, Minnie Mouse attraction and the VHS pins) this weekend....HELP me add more!
Separate names with a comma.
