So I am looking to attend my first pin trading night in Kissimmee next month....and I know it's trading only, no cash involved....but what do people like me do when they are just starting out and dont have a LOT to trade??:dunno:

Do I go and buy a bunch of rack pins? Do I just go and look??? I have no idea what to do

Bumping this, because I'd like to know, too. I'm going to WDW in January, and if I'm there on PTN I'd love to know what to expect as a newbie. I'll have a few traders, but likely nothing serious traders are going to want.

When I first started out, my first PTN was more of a look around and socialize event. I DID do some trading.

It is never "just high end" pins... There will be traders with Hidden mickeys, and trader who have rack pins.

You do not need high value LE pins to be able to have fun at a PTN or trade event.

Even with all my nice pins, I end up doing more rack pin trades at a ptn than anything else.

I went to my first (and only so far! I need to go o more) PTN a few months ago at DL. I was not sure what to expect, and I only had about 30-ish pins with me to trade. Some LE's and a few rack pins. I had no idea what I'd find there, but luckily it was a good experience! My girlfriend and I walked around, asking to look at people's pins. Sometimes they said no to trades, but more often than not they agreed. I made some great trades that night. Just go into it with an open mind and be willing to go up to strangers and ask to look at their pins. It also helped that there were 2 tables there full of DPF'ers there, so it felt good to know some people when I arrived. See if there's anyone going that you may know. And good luck!

We would not necessarily recommend buying anything for your first PTN. Just take what pins you have, walk around and most of all ENJOY YOURSELVES. We guarantee you will be amazed! Traders of all experience levels from newbies to veterans attend these events and chances are good you will be able to trade with someone, even if you don't have much in the way of traders.

You can get ideas on how to store and display your traders and even discover new possibilities for your collections. If nothing else, you will meet other traders (both good and bad...lol), AND you will get to look at some fantastic pins, many of which are so much better in person than in photos.

We will be there, as will other DPF members...we look forward to seeing all of you.

Hit the outlet mall near the park. They don't have as many pins as they used to, but they do get LEs in from time to time. That should give you at least something and at a very decent price.
