We are looking for someone who obtained this pin directly from Disney Auctions and would be willing to post photos of the reverse side. Ours has some interesting details that we will share once we receive a response. ;)

Thanks!

The Belle and Beast is the LAST pin I need for the Princess Icons series...I would love to see an actual picture of the pin! :)

Alright, so I went through my drawer...the bottom one:

And I found it! Here is the front:

And here is the back which reads: Copyright Disney, DisneyAuctions.com, Limited Edition 100, DIsney Auctions Exclusive, China

Thanks SwinginKitten for posting the pics. We had bought this on the secondary market and thought that we might have gotten a counterfeit. Will post detailed photos of our pin later.

Here is what an authentic DA LE100 can look like...SCARY isn't it?

Front looks perfect

Note the borders and impressed (not raised) markings

Surface irregularities around info box

Authentic hologram but placed in an irregular oval

Looks pretty rough!

The reverse of this pin is quite a bit different from other DA LE100s. The front looks fine and the edges are clean and brightly polished, but the back is a mess. The gavels and the info box are indented instead of raised. There are borders at the top and several places where the gavel pattern is disrupted. The hologram is intact, but the indentation for it is very irregular. The pinposts do not seem to be centered in the circles that are "cut out" of the gavel pattern, circles not found on other DA pins. The cutouts for the front scrollwork are irregular, possibly not completely opened.

We bought this on the secondary market (in the original packaging) and would have sworn that it was a counterfeit, but two individuals that purchased it directly from Disney Auctions have confirmed that the back of their pin is identical to ours...AMAZING!

I can see them now...thanks! :)

That is interesting...now I want to go check the backs of the rest of the Princess Icon pins and see if they look like that as well...will report back later. :cheshire:

We have the Tinkerbell (#41605), and recently traded the Ariel (#41606). Both of these looked like any other DA pin on the reverse, that is why we were initially suspicious of this pin.

We do have a theory about this pin. We also have PinPics #41419 and if you read the description it says the back has no gavel pattern. We wonder if DA had trouble with the creating the mold pattern for the backs of these two pins since they had cutouts for the stained glass sections. Perhaps they received complaints on the lack of the gavel pattern from purchasers and came up with this crude solution for the BatB Princess Icon pin. I don't suppose we will ever know for sure.

BTW, we received confirmation from another individual that the reverse of their pin matches ours and SwinginKitten's. We are still waiting to hear from Amanda (heyyouwannatrade) as she has one of these listed in her collection.

That could be true regarding the stained glass effect, and would explain why the DA pins with stained glass features have different-looking backs. Good pin-sleuthing! LOL

I just checked the backs of all of mine, and like you said, they all have the normal gavel pattern. The BATB is the only one that appears to be different. :)

And thanks to your thread...I was also contacted by a very kind member who offered to sell me this pin...so I finally get to complete my set!!! So thanks Greg and Debby! :)
