Pins on a plane

It is really not hard flying with pins. Put them in a bag in your carry own. Be ready to take them out at security so the TSA people can see them (kind of like you would with liquids). Depending on your airport security, they may or may not need to see them separate from the rest of your belongings, but I find it easiest to take them out anyway just to prevent hassle.

I pretty much always need to take out the bag of pins separate from my carry-on. The lanyards I wear and the pins I trade are all in a gallon ziploc bag, so easy for TSA to look at. Like JayLeeJay said, to prevent hassle, put in a bucket with your shoes. Otherwise they'll pull your bag, and rerun just the pins again, while your party waits for you, giving you looks. Okay, maybe that's just my family and friends that give me "haven't you learned yet looks". :nono:

When I traveled at the end of October with my pins I had no problems at all. The TSA agents didn't even ask to inspect my carry on. BUT, I would definitely carry them on, not put them in your checked bag. JMO! Good luck and have a great time!
