My plan so far is:

There will be a screen for "who do i have the most matches with?". It will show a list of all the users you have mutual matches with. From a user's profile, there will be a link to send them a trade request. The trade request will send an email (from PTDB) to the user, with a message from you. From here you two can continue messaging through your own email, or add more messages through the trade request, which will be on your new trade requests screen. The mutual matches screen will be updated saying you last had contact with this person on this date. The status of a trade request can be set by either party to open, complete, cancelled.

Viewing any pin will also have a link for "how can i get this pin?", which will take you to the screen i just mentioned, but specifically involving the pin you are looking for.

TL;DR:
- the system will work to find "who can i trade with to get this pin", rather than "what can i trade to get this pin".
- the system will keep track of who you have been in contact with and when.
- email/pm notification will be sent to user when request is generated.
- communication can be kept in system or though personal email.

Stuff to consider:
- this would be lacking in a blanket "send a request to everyone i can possibly trade with" option, instead opting for a tailored request every time. It's more effort for the sender but should yield better results and less ignores.
- the old trade requests that we knew and loved would be spoofed to appear to come from whoever sent them. That's not good internet etiquette nowadays as it gets recognized as spam by most filters. So you won't be able to just hit reply, you will have to either send a pm back through the system or compose a new email to the email address in the content of the request.

I'm sure there is stuff we haven't thought of or considered so hearing your ideas would be much appreciated.

Cool. Don't forget to send an e-mail to the "requester" as well as the "requested" so that you will know what requests you've sent to others regarding a pin trade deal.

If you send emails to both requestor/requestee you may want to send them separately. Many people don't want their email given out. Pinpics didn't have the email address, you could only get that if the person replied. Too many annoying people keep begging for a pin that is worth way more than what they have to offer. And once they have your email, the pleading never stops. The pinpics system wasn't terrible if you used it correctly. After you selected the pins you'd be willing to trade to get it, you could then go and see the exact individual offers and delete any lopsided ones before they got sent out. But people were too lazy to use it correctly.
