Hi, I won an auction on ebay and like the pins but the seller had a problem with paypal at first, said she was changing accounts. A few days later I was able to pay. The pins were marked shipped the next day. The pins did not arrive and they did not respond to my messages, so I opened a case and received an instant refund. The seller sent a message that ebay/paypal was going to hold the payment for up to 180 days due to a problem with their account. I still would like the pins. they sent a message today and wanted to know if I wanted to purchase it with a credit card so there is protection. Anyonepay by cc before? thanks for any advice. oh, they had really good feedback on ebay.

That sounds fishy to me. I would be careful. Whenever you start a new ebay account there is always a hold on the money so that the customer is sure to get their item. As soon as you leave positive feedback for the seller then ebay releases the funds.

I am concerned with paying by cc. It is not a new ebay account, there is 58 good feedback but seems to be a problem with paypal? a variety of items and some pins. Do I have recourse if something goes wrong if I pay bycredit card?

Yes you do have recourse. You can file a complaint with your credit card company and they will try to get it reversed. How are they proposing they are going to process your credit card? I would be wary of giving that information out to somebody who can't figure out paypal. Just me.

If they want you to pay by card tell them you will link your credit card to PayPal and pay that way. I would NOT give someone on Ebay my CC number under ANY circumstances. The only way I would consider it is if I got a prepaid card for the amount needed and then used it.

Thanks for the responses. I have sent a message back saying I would not give out my cc number to anyone. I suggested that I could send a money order after pins received/sent. I do like the idea of the prepaid card but don't know if it has any protection with it.
