I have this pin in my collection with "Released in Year 2000" on the back, as noted on the listing on PinPics. Is it considered a scrapper or just another version of the pin?

I'm just curious, because if I ever decide I'm not interested in the pin anymore, don't want to unknowingly trade out a scrapper.

Thanks.

It's not a scrapper. The pin was first released in 1998, but then re-released in 2000 with the added writing on the back. Several of the pins in the 98 series went through the same re-release in 2000. They were doing something similar recently by adding "First Release" to many pin backs for the first batch (I think they started around the O'pin House event in 2011). Nothing to worry about but worth noting if you do trade it out. I've been collecting the series and have been trying to keep the 'released in 2000' pins out of my collection (more of a challenge to go after all the originals I figure) but probably doesn't matter to most.
