These pins are released at the CM Mickey of Glendale store located at the Disney Studios campus, correct?? By far they are great pins and as an East Coast Villains collector I REALLY want the supposed set of 40 coming out, but the first release set is already marked as "Sold Out".

Can someone walk me thorough the process on how these pins are issued and sold, are they CM only purchases, do CM's buy them via the Disney "Hub" web site, and how do we know when they are "Sold Out" what is the notice that verifies this?

As I mentioned in the past I wish we had this opportunity here on the East Coast at WDW, but hopefully WDI/MOG will have some surprises for us at the D23 event in November here at their "pop-up" store (other than a 3 hour wait to get in and 3 hour lines to check out) lol

I don't think it's sold out, but I can't check for you until tomorrow. You have to be on the Disney wifi to access and purchase these pins. I can't explain the whole process to you, but basically there is an MOG store on the hub where you purchase them as a CM. If they still have leftovers come November, they will bring them with and put them for sale at Destination D. You're going to have to be one of the first people into registration and have a gold membership to get in early to the pop-up shop.

The pins only get put for sale on the MOG website if they don't sell out in store. Most of the time the popular characters will sell out instore and never make it online for other CMs to buy.

I believe that, lately, they have been doing Cast Member only in Store on Wednesdays, then online release a week later, then guests in-store the following Monday

I actually think it's in-person cast members only on Monday, whatever is left goes up on the Hub on Wednesday, and whatever is left after *that* is open for in-person guests on the following Monday.

Thanks for the clarification. I remember reading one of those MOG flyers that someone posted on FB a while ago and I was like, 3 different days?!

Timeerkat, you are correct. And I am a huuuuuuugggggeeee fan of the new rules of 1 pin per CM! My CM friend who works in Florida managed to get herself a full set of villains when they went online on Wednesday. That never would have happened in the past, as there was this whole CM-> middleman profiteer->outrageous prices-> everyone selling, no one trading. Now my CM pin TRADiNG friends in Florida have a fair shot of getting cool pins they can keep or trade. Win win win for all of us!

It's always been 1 per CM. Before, when it used to be on the hub first, then in-store, they would check against CM orders through the hub. There's always a way to get around it, just get a fellow CM (or few) to order them...

Actually, starry_solo, it's been 2 per CM for quite a while. This villains release was the first that I know of where it is one per CM, at least in the MOG store. I was there this summer visiting a relative that works on the Disney campus and when my relative went to purchase the new WDI Diamond pins (the Snow White and dwarves had released the day before). The guy behind the counter asked her if she would like one or two of each pin she asked for. The most popular pins never even made it to the hub on Wednesday because of the two per CM rule (which is what my Florida CM friends complained about all the time).

Never trust what's posted on PinPics - whoever lists the WDI pins always marks them as sold out when many are still on the racks. I think they must do it to try to increase their pins' values lol because they do it for every WDI pin when they're totally not sold out.

There are still several of the villains left for sale. Only a few sold out.

Pertaining to the D23 Event in November at WDW re:Gold Membership. We are Gold D23 members but you have to have one of the VIP tickets to get into the shop early. Regular ticket was about $190 for the event, VIP was about $1000 and they Sold Out pretty fast. WAY out of our league price-wise, guess we will take our chances with the ridiculous lines again.

Two years ago, they let the VIPs into the shop starting at 10:30 am, gold at 12:00 pm, and silver/general members at 1 pm.

. . . Do you need to have a ticket to the event to get into the pop up shop? . . . !

The popup MoG shop in the past has been apart from the Destination D ballroom. So, you could probably be able to get into the popup shop. However, they definitely check for your D23 card at the checkout counter and may ask to see your Destination D lanyard.

They definitely checked for your lanyard two years ago when going in. But if you're a cast member, I believe they have shopping hours on Sunday.

An older thread, I know, but I have some insight on this topic, as I was invited by a Cast Member to visit both Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) and the Walt Disney Studios on Monday of this week.

First, the OP asks if Mickey's of Glendale (MOG) is on the Walt Disney Studios campus: NO, it's at WDI in Glendale. The store at the Studios in Burbank is, aptly, called the Studio Store.

The CM I was with says the new WDI pins are released on Monday, and available for purchase at MOG. EDIT: The official word on the hub (CM site) is that CM's can buy ONE pin on release day on Monday at MOG, though cashiers would often sell them two. This changed recently when the Villain pins came out, and they have become strict about the ONE pin limit. Wednesday they go on sale on the website, and Friday invited guests can buy the pins. Disney CM's generally get a 40% discount on merchandise purchases, but NOT on WDI pins; they pay full, listed price.

When I was there this Monday, there were no new releases that day. There were nearly a dozen different villains LE 250's on the rack that were released in the week(s) prior; not as popular as I thought they'd be. I bought several.
