Oh WOW !!! this is just getting out of control.... As a family that collects marquees, we are mourning over that fact that we will have to part with either a massive amount of pins or a massive amount of money if we ever plan on owning this pin. What the heck is going on ?????

I feel your pain ... try needing the Tangled Marquee.

I think the best way to bring these Marquees down from the sublime to the ridiculous to (dare I hope) the somewhat reasonable (understanding that everyone might define 'reasonable' differently), simply put, is not to pay these ridiculous prices. Yes, there is a question of supply and demand to justify these high prices ... but at the same time (I remember this from an experiment in my economics classes), if everyone bands together and *refuses* to pay those outrageous prices, those who have the pins will be forced to lower their asking price if they want to sell. And if these pins don't sell, sooner or later, the sellers will get the message, learn that their pricing is wrong, and reduce it.

I can not agree more however it wont work sellers lowering down asking price.
it's that way with any hobby something will be cheap and something else will be super pricey
High demand is to blame someone out there will buy asking prices it's simple as that... IMO collect what you can afford and you will be happy

That pin was stuck at around $40 most of the week. So the seller's did not dictate the final price. They did have a reserve on all their pins and that was the only one that sold I think (a very high reserve). Surprised by this one the most. They also listed Cars and Meet the Robinsons.

I agree, I've been saying this myself as well, the problem is that by nature collectors (all collectors, not just pin ones) are an impatient bunch and asking them to rein it in and just wait it out, is next to impossible and then when you have rich collectors who can afford to buy pins that these outrageous prices, well therein lies the problem, impatient, rich collectors. Oy, who can compete with that.

It's amazing to me that it's these Marquee pins that are bringing in the bucks. I lived down the street from DSF, I could have had every one since it's only been recently that these things have started stirring up trouble, some of them even made it to the clearance bin, but I never found them to be that attractive so I passed on them, clearly that was a mistake.

I suspect that it is only a handful of collectors that are driving up the prices. I think there is a small group of pin collectors willing to pay any price to complete their sets and they are driving up prices. Once these few have gotten the pins they want, the prices may come down as most others are unwilling to pay such high prices. I'm rethinking my own collecting of these pins. Everyone now has every marquee overvalued so you can't trade for any of them, not even marquee for marquee because somehow their marquee is more valuable than yours.

Isn't that the truth. You can barely find someone willing to trade fairly marquee for marquee but I bet you that very soon we will see a flood of marquees hitting the "market ". As more and more people give up on collecting them( at least I can dare to dream )

Being someone new to collecting and nowhere near any Disney park it is hard to buy pins I want. I agree the prices are out of control, but when I see all the great pins on the forum, I want them too. Do not only blame the people selling, the hobby is fun to watch and most of the time has a emotional attachment to s

To think back when I was needing the Up marquee. I refused to pay $300 for a marquee 6 pin lot just to get the Up pin. Guess you wont see a lot like that on ebay now xD
