Yea :< everywhere else it's always been super expensive and I can deal with a $15 postage but the fact that there is no longer an option online for it is what's killing me :<
 
I was wrong, you were right. It WAS before the price increase but was indeed 1/2 oz parcel to GB North Ireland 1st class for $3.00. Can't believe it has more than doubled!

This was brought up in another thread: UPS and FedEx charge higher customs fees than USPS. Please keep that in mind when shipping overseas. I was shocked at how much customs fees are. So glad they don't do that in the US.
 
paid $9.59 for 3 smallish pins to the UK the other day.

$14.00 and $20.00 is high for standard first class international. But it is not enough for delivery confirmation. You might want to contact these sellers and ask them where they are getting their prices from. As an occational seller i can tell you that we can check shipping price estimates before listing, OR we can do the international shipping "varies by location" option which actually does the math for us.

I didn't think the post office ever offered the online option for international mail. Supposedly, you can do it with priority but I don't ship big enough packages to go priority overseas (plus shipping would be AGH!)
 
Can I add a plea with regards to Customs Forms / Charges?

We buy quite often from the Bay, as well as trading internationally. If the Customs Form is marked as gift & you put the value as over $15, receipients in the UK run the risk of being charged. I say "run the risk" as we've had packages arrive marked both Merchandise & Gift with values over that & no charges. On the other hand, $25 marked as a Gift on a recent pin I received made sure I incurred £12 (roughly $20) Customs Fees & had to make the trip to the PO to collect it.

I always mark pins as NCV - No Current Value. So please, if you're going ahead with UK trading, despite the silly prices, please be aware of this!

That doesnt sound right, are you sure it wasnt underpaid postage that you were charged? We can receive up to around £40 in goods when marked as a gift, but only up to £15.00 if it is marked as merchandise purchased.

That all depends really.
I got a package, it also said 25 $ on the box, and they charged me an extra 35 $ to get it.
Was also checked as gift, were only 2 little plushies and a blanket in there!

I think customs is a very tricky thing to discuss as we just don't know how it really works, because they can just pick a package out which ever they feel like, and decide they will charge you heaps of money.
And where does that money go?

When I recieved the package, it didn't even say why I needed to pay an extra 35 $.
10 $ administration costs & 25 $ customs, but for what items?

It's all a scam, this customs thing *sigh*.
 
6.55 for 1 pin to Belgium at post office, but I also used a postage meter to UK and it was only 3.89 for 1 pin. Not sure why the difference - both were 1 pin and both first class international.
 
Odd, maybe because you can get "bulk" mailing rates via the postage meter. But don't be surprised if it gets returned to you as postage due!
