Wish they would bring this back. Site has totally gone downhill over the years that's for sure. I especially miss the sales they use to have on "seasonal/dated/event" pins. You were able to pick up some good (authorized) Traders for about $1.99 each. I find it hard to believe that all of this type of merchandise sells out but I wonder where they are putting it??

I miss the days of Disney Auction and later Disney Shopping when they had the really nice pins and a person actually had a chance of buying them.

Me, too! It evened the playing field somewhat, unless you had slow internet- which we did, but the library had fast internet. Now, it seems as though Disney hates the East Coast- Disneystore.com surprise releases after 3:00 a.m. EST, few lower edition (even 1000) limited edition pins at WDW unless you spend a lot of money on mystery pins (1 in 10 chance for the Halloween LE 800 pins at $8.50 per pin equals $85.00 per lower edition pin based on the odds- whereas LE's of 200-300 are around $16 at DSSH/DSF and WDI, and LE 400-750 are routinely available at DLRP), etc. Heck, even the majority of the event pins at WDW are not nearly as nice as those found at California and Paris events.

Does anyone know why Disney does this to pin collectors/ traders at WDW and the East Coast in general?

Why don't they have a Disney Auctions-style site anymore?

All I can think of is maybe that they don't believe there is enough global interest to turn a decent profit? But then, they have these amazing events for pin traders, so I'm not sure exactly what the thought is. Maybe they are hoping it will force more people to keep visiting the parks and buying annual passes too, if most US releases are in the parks only?

But yes, I wish they would bring back Disney Auctions or have more pre-announced releases for the US store like they do for the UK store, so at least those of us not near any parks can have some fun too.

Wasn't there too much complaining about the quality from DA/DS (flaws) that Disney decided not to sell anymore pins?

12 midnight isn't good for the west coast when one has to go to school or work. :p

As someone who just woke up at 1 in the afternoon and had a call-in shift at work this morning (thankfully I was able to call), these surprise releases are really brutal on me. I stayed up on the offchance the frozen fever pin set would come out. I can't afford to pay anything but retail for this. So, while midnight is bad, I think 3am is going to mess with my sleep cycle for the rest of the week. I would take 12 am EST anytime, because I usually stay up until 12:30-1:00 anyway.

I also miss these sales in August and February! I remember buying mystery packs for half off and buying LE 250-500 for (approximately) $5.00
